First of all, I aplologise if someone has already posted this! Please delete if this is a duplicate!

11/02/2009 : Just saw on the news, the current death toll is 181... Also $45 milliob has been raised in money and items! : ]

In Australia, Victoria there have been a string of fires burning down hectares of trees and land and burning down houses, all this happening within these few days. (3 days)

Also it's really sad to hear how some of the people died,

"There was a quiet young officer from police forensics there today. He was talking about how people had died when the fireball had sucked all the oxygen out of the air and left them with nothing to breathe but fire itself..."

A series of bushfires, including 31 major fires, ignited across the Australian state of Victoria on 7 February 2009. The fires have so far resulted in at least 181 deaths, and 78 people have been admitted to hospitals across Victoria with burns, at least 20 in a critical condition, and 9 on life support or in intensive care.[8]

The fires have destroyed at least 922 homes,[9] Many towns northeast of Melbourne have been almost completely destroyed, particularly; Kinglake, Marysville, Narbethong and Strathewen.[10][11]

[Not sure how accurate or update because taken from Wikiedia]

I was shocked when I saw it on the news! So many people have been left homeless and left with absolutely nothing! The once lush green mountains is now flattened and black. It was a horrible sight. I live in Australia and it's terrible to see what's happening.

The worst part of it all is that the police are suspecting the fires to have been lit deliberately!! I just can't see how someone would want to do that!

Police have also advised that the death toll could reach 300!!

Hope they dont waste the wildlife. Dont let their death go to waste! Eat them.

To the people who set the fire, the favour will be definitely be returned.

Yeah! I heard my mum saying that there was a family in a car trying to get away but because of the strong winds in one little moment they died because the wind carried the fire very quickly!! TT.TT It's really sad!

Look at the animals! It appears that they have suffered more than being toasted.
