Another trick is to increase the size of your period, commas, and semicolons by 1-2 sizes. Depending on how much you have written, you'll get more pages. It's pretty much cheating and any good teacher will notice it.

During our school days we usually just copy/paste anything in the internet... The prof is too busy to read them anyway... and they're technophobes anyway.

It's a common situation:

You're sitting in front of your computer with Word open. Tomorrow, a 10-page paper is due yet your screen is blank. Luckily, those 10 pages only have to be double spaced, so you go up to your Paragraph settings to change it, right?

NO.

You will endure writing all of your pages with single spacing. Even if it seems like it's taking longer. Even if it's harder to read. Even if it makes you think you have less.

Why, in Puff the Magic Dragon's name, would someone ever want to go through such torture?

Wait, my friend, for the very reason so many people do this is nigh:

Although the paper must be ten pages in length, once an entire (yes, entire) five pages have been written in single spacing, the trigger can be set.

For, by only going to the Paragraph settings window, one can set the spacing to "Double," click "OK" and...

Rumble...

Rumble Rumble...

CRASHHHHHHH!!

By the mere click of a button, your paper has magically DOUBLED IN LENGTH.

Dont deny it. Its FUN. and your going to do it again all your term paper writing life.

omg, thats from the facebook group "Writing Papers Single Spaced First Makes My Double Spaced Result Climactic"!

and its not quoted!

In my school the teachers want quality, not quantity.
And it looks unprofessional

My essays go by words, not pages.

That's insane. Our school has so many software that prevents plagarism. Like seriously! Before turning in an essay, we would have to turn it in on a couple different websites and if it passes the websites' screening, only then will our essays be graded. Dx

@OP: Well, all my essays have to be in double space because it's a requirement lol. I recently got done writing an 18 page research paper. It was hell.
