Could Jay-Z be cleaning out his office at Def Jam soon? We hear that contract-renewal negotiations between Universal Music and the rapper-turned-CEO have broken down.

"He wanted big, big money that was way out of sync with the realities of today's record business," a source says.

Island/Def Jam CEO L.A. Reid and his boss, Doug Morris, are said to have found Jay's demands "excessive" in light of the time he's been spending on tour.

"People have lost count of how many times he's come out of retirement," the source says. "Everybody knows he's not around the office much. Everybody at Universal loves him, but they can't justify paying him the money he wants when so many people have been laid off."

His contract is said to expire at the end of this month. Friends of the rapper, who last night was celebrating his 38th birthday in Paris, scoffed at claims that Reid and Morris had thrown in the towel.

"They are still actively negotiating," one friend insisted.

According to another: "The talks will continue when he returns to New York. They still have a ways to go before a decision."

Well I heard about this on k104 hip hop station in Dallas.

Also I searched 2 websites to confirm it.

Bottom line IMO Jay is one of the best MC's out there but lets be honest he aint really putting out any other artist on his label besides Kayne Wests. And this dude aint retiring no time soon lol. What you guys think?

Raja, you know you're wrong for that! Camel Cigarrettes...~HUGE LAUGHS~ Well, wish them the best but it's not my problem. It doesn't really affect me that much either except I guess retiring at 30 for Beyonce is going to become true to have a family and kids. It's a shame though, but unfortunatly for American Artists, they don't have to struggle that much compare to foreign artists to be known on an international level, so they get content quicker and then I don't expect much of anything else from them that's new, fresh, or original. I mean look at Mariah. That last album was good in terms of the beats and her voice ofcourse, but the lyrical content was seriously lacking.

As for Jay-Z, lets hope there won't be any Ike-Tina relationship going on and that with all these plans next year, he can meet the demands of work and his new wifey.

Jay-Z Gets Out Vote for Obama; Boss Adds Shows
Josh Grossberg
Thu Oct 2, 4:06 AM ET

Los Angeles (E! Online) - Jay-Z is temporarily trading Beyoncé for Barack.

The hip-hop heavyweight announced he'll perform two free shows this weekend in Detroit and Miami as part of a voter-registration drive on behalf of the Democratic presidential nominee.

Saturday's concert will take place at Motor City's Cobo Arena; Sunday's show is at Miami's Bayfront Park.

The Blueprint MC, a fixture on Obama's iPod, is expected to encourage voters to register and vote for the Illinois senator on Nov. 4.

Michigan and Florida both have Oct. 6 registration deadlines. They also happen to be two of the key battleground states.

Separately, the Obama campaign announced today that Bruce Springsteen has signed on to play an acoustic concert Monday at Oestrike Stadium at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Springsteen will also play get-out-the-vote gigs for Obama this weekend in two other important states. Saturday he will perform at a rally in Philadelphia and Sunday he will play Ohio State University.

"Sen. Obama speaks to the America I've envisioned in my music," Springsteen said, "a country that's interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit."

The Boss will also team with Billy Joel for their first-ever joint concert Oct. 15 at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom on Oct. 15 as part of an Obama fundraiser.

DEATH OF AUTOTUNE

1st off... the shit needed to be said by somebody 'big' ... but this song aint super-duper-crazy-hot like alot of people makin it sound... IN FACT its probly one of the weakest singles in regards to JayZ's lyrical ability I have ever heard.

I still cant believe so many people still dick ride this man...

FURTHERMORE... i was reading (weeks ago) & the article said that JayZ was mainly talking to everybody other than Lil Wayne, T Pain, Kanye, and a few other big names... SO In a nutshell It's okay if some ppl use the autotune but just not everybody....

I only think 1 person should be abusing the autotune & thats T-Pain cuz he brought that shit on his own, & it makes him sound cool... everybody else needs to stop abusing auto tune.
