Very.I actually find the majority of manga series bad so it takes some time for me to find an interesting one not filled with stupid eechi moments, cliche characters, predictable storylines,etc,ect..

I judge by the book's cover...not to mention that it has to have a good plot.

I don't have the skill of identifying good and mad mangas at first glance, so I usually rely on reviews and reader comments before I start reading a series. If the reviews are good even if the art is so-so, I'll go for it.

Wait, that didn't really answer the question.

Maybe I am somewhat picky? I dunno lol.

iunno.. i guess if the summary is good.. ill try a few chapters.. art is important but.. if the story is good enough to make one not care bout the art then =D. for example.. i didnt like skip beat's artwork much at first.. but the story was awesome. and it was really funni so x3

i have steps to whether i will read it or not.. i will read the description. if its good. than i watch one episode (or if its manga read one chapter) and if im not asleep by the end of it or side-tracked than it works and i will continue it.

some times you need breaks in between tho. like if its a long series.

Oh, crap! for a minute i thought I had already answered this one. sheesh, any way, I'm mostly picky about what the story is about. If that storylline doesn't appeal to me then I will put the manga down and look for something else. Yep, for me it will always be about storyline.

yes, I'm very picky in read manga...when I want to start to read manga I must see the storyline first and then the character. The artwork it doesn't matter for me, because for me the good manga always good in storyline not the artwork...storyline is number 1, the characters number 2 and artwork is number 3

BUT

in Shoujo manga I prefer see the artwork first because in shoujo first of all I must see the eyes of the character. is it too big (I hate shoujo manga with the eyes are big almost full on the face and have tiny winy little nose and mouth, thats very annoying and not realistic)

and the I see the character look like especially the main girl character (I hate weak girl and it look like waiting her love to come to her and save her -_-;, and the girl who can't do anything but cry and spoiled.)

and the storyline...I prefer the story which make sense in the reality life like Lovely complex, Nodame Cantabile, Kaichouwa maid-sama, Hoshi wa Utau, Fruits basket (not the character become animal but their own stories in the past and present with have darkness and painful). Also the fantasy story with the unique story like Ouran, Gakuen Alice, Vampire Knights, Barajou no Kiss and etc (fantasy shoujo story)

Yes, very picky.

To me, the plot has to be worth reading and the setting has to make sense to me. I don't want to read a manga where the setting is unknown. It's either I know the date/time period, where they are, or else I know what their age is. I am also picky about the plot because I don't want to read the same thing again and then get annoyed with what I can already predict. Basically, because I am picky, it's hard for me to find a manga to read. It doesn't need to be Shoujo or Shounen, heck it can be Manhua or Manwha * Not sure how to spell it* , it just needs to be something epically good and reasonable to be reading! It should also catch my attention with only its summary.
