Well, i read quite a wide variety of genres of mangas, and i read different genres according to my mood, so in that sense, i'm not that picky.
But i do need an interesting summary and at least a not-too-bad artwork to start reading one. To continue reading that series, i need to be interested in what happens next. If I find myself dragging myself to read every page, I'll most probably just drop it or put it on hold, depending on how horrible it has been so far.

While i'm not so picky about reading a manga, i must say i am quite picky when rating that series out of 10 (in myanimelist, when i want to add the series into my manga list). And i think that i tend to be a little bit more biased towards historical romance mangas mixed with little adventures along the way (such as Basara or Kanata Kara or Red River or Saiunkoku Monogatari) and series with drop-dead gorgeous artwork (such as Bride of the Water God) or series with a slightly darker romance (such as NANA or Paradise Kiss or Mars).

i read only romance manga and in this genre it is really hard to found a good story which isn't kitsch.
.... i also took into account the drawing like Dengeki Daisy in the start, to me the drawing look very bad not as usual as i was know, but somehow the story was interesting and i found out that the drawing not so bad as i thought - i saw worst drawing in manga. in Dengeki Daisy the drawing is deffrent&it is a good thing.
if the story is good so it excel on the drawing.

Sure, definitely... 100%

No yaoi and yuri ---> hate them
no romance --> no thanks, ruins everything
no shoujo mangas --> not really a fan of the drawing style and most of the stories are plain

police, crime, mystery, sports, horror, adventure, fantasy, shonen, seinen --> all the way

and of course, if a mangaka which work I like relieses another one, I will read it.
( like Rabbit Doubt and now Judge )

I've become more picky over the years, as I've gotten a backlog large enough to kill a few trees. But I'm still buying them en masse, and have... almost 50 more volumes enroute to me...

Yes, very. Most of the time I can't help but to think that I'm just reading a Japanese comic/graphic novel, and why bother reading a sh!ty foreign comic, right?

I usually look for good story, then art, then characters and originality.

When I see a story about a kid in school with powers surrounded by a bunch of schoolgilrs/lolis trying to collect something and/or having BS powers I just quit, I am also not a big fan of shoujo and that other stuff that is just for the girls with all the pretty boys and the romance stuff or the ones that just go forever and ever, hate it.

That's why some of my faves are stuff like RosarioVampire, Death Note, Elfen Lied, Black Lagoon, Deadman Wonderland, Psyren stuff like that interest me, if you know of any that are like that then hit me up. ^^
