Independent Bookstores nearing extinction thanks to Chapters & Indigo
Posted 2/14/09
Chapters and Indigo owned by Heather Reisman (which her husband Gerry Schwartz bought) is the most popular book store in the world. Not only does Heather Reisman not know anything about literature, and her "Heather Picks" are all politically correct, but indepedent and second hand bookstores are dying. Dont buy your books from Chapters or Indigo, if it werent for Amazon.com, they would control what gets published and what does not. For example:

a small bookstore is told by a publisher they will get the book before chapters.

Chapters gets it first.

Why? Cause publishers cant say no to Chapters and Indigo! They are huge and their book will more likely sell in there store than in some small store. If there are no more small bookstores willing to publish books which are not politically correct, we will end up with terrible books.
Look at Twilight!!!! Terrible book, yet it sells millions!

Not only that, Chapters and Indigo give money (3 Million) to the Israeli military! This is a bookstore!

Boycott, support your independent bookstore before were reading garbage.

Sounds like a South Park episode. Ahaha all we have to do is bust up a mirror in the heart of the store. It's us the 'customers'

When I came to this thread I was like "Wut? I've never heard of Chapters & Inigo only Barnes & Noble" which is true as I have never heard of this store and have only gotten my books from Barnes & Noble, the Library, and every once in a while online.

I've never even seen a Chapters & Indigo. I usually shop at the Harvard Book Store or Barnes & Noble
