I loved the manga, loved the anime just a little less.

I don't mind jerry yan as Ren though i think he'd have to alter his image a bit.. But what worries me is how the Taiwanese like to overexaggerate reactions and stuff within the show. It would be terrible if Skip Beat was ruined by the drama. Still I look forward to how things work out.

i dont really watch dramas so it doesnt make me all that depressed but it is sad that they stopped.... i mean even if the matching was bad they still should have done it... but i do agree that japan actors can probably portray ren and kyoko's parts better....

Why the hell would the chinese ppl CARE if stuff are said about the series..I mean, the series originated from Japan, so, if the Japanese audiences don't complain or don't know how to*language differences etc* then what's the problem..I honestly don't care and the thing about the guy, I heard from somone..Like I would waste my time on searching news about the so called chinese made drama.. I think each country should stick with their own products and productions but that's unrealistic thinking and I just think that the Japanese film/anime industry should do their own stuff, since it's THEIR stuff to start with, anyways!!

The chinese/taiwanese tend to change plotlines to suit their own needs, which isn't considerate of the works of the original writer/author!!

Sincerely,

Sincerely,

Why would anyone outside of japan CARE about anything from Japan. I mean the series originated in Japan. I mean I think everyone should watch things only in their language. I think that people should just watch the things made from each of their own countries.

I mean the watcher tend to change their perception of culture they are watching to suit their own cultural needs. It's not considerate of the works or the original writer/author.

Does that sound something like what you said? If not please... let me tell you straight that I found the above offensive and I would ask you to tone it down. YOU clearly watched something FROM JAPAN. YOU clearly bungled up Japanese culture by the above statements. AND you CLEARLY do not understand the industry of dramas in Asia. So don't make ignant statements. 'cause I truly dislike prejudice in any form.

Great!!! I dont plan to say any bad things. However, I prefers not seeing the Taiwanese drama adaptation from any Japanese manga. It just spoils all the stories. For example, Hana Kimi (japan)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>way better Hana Kimi (taiwanese).

Borderline racist here? I give you three dramas better than their Japanese counterparts. It Started with a Kiss/They Kiss again. 10 times if not 20 times than the anime, the drama alone. Plus it had the blessing of the mangaka which neither the drama or the anime explicitly had. So there.

The Rose... Better than any attempts made at it in Japan beyond the manga.

Generalizations like this really make my stomach turn. It doesn't matter where the drama comes from and Taiwan is not the same as Mainland China. And just because Japan does it does not make it better or worse. It just means a different format so it's different.

Hana Kimi, BTW, had its good and bad points on the TW side and the Japan said. The TW version had more demands made of Sano... and overall I liked that version better. I blame the director for the lame attempts at Sano in Hana Kimi. Oguri Shun is a great actor with lots of warmth and range. That was a true waste of talent!!! *grr* However, Nakatsu was more sympathetic in the Japanese version... for me, it was a toss up.

There are Japanese dramas where there is a clear winner. For example, Hana Yori Dango... HYD Japan wins hands down, season 1, season 2 and the movie make a complete set that still makes my heart beat thinking about it. Meteor Garden was weak on 2, so clearly HYD Japan wins. gott pada Namja (Boys Over Flowers) Korean is dumbed down quite a bit and I quit early. I'll have to mentally purge any kind of comparison because it's not going to live up to any expectations I had for it.

Taiwanese, Japanese and Korean dramas all have their virtues it's how well they tap into them that makes the drama good or bad. Most slow moving stories where there are slow character arcs, but colorful characters do well in TW dramas. Having around 30 episodes isn't bad for something like Skip Beat. Having 10 episodes for something like Skip Beat is like death to the story. Even if it's popular enough for a second season the max number of episodes one will get is something like 20-22 which really isn't enough to cover the slow character arcs of the characters in enough detail. A Korean drama possibly could pull it off, but there would be something lost in cultural values that a TW drama can cover for pretty well that a Korean drama cannot do.

If I were to choose based on the type of story Skip Beat is, I think the TW drama would win out for the type of story it is.

I also think Ariel would do a fine job considering her range as an actress... if it ever gets made. I have less faith in Jerry Yan though...

I hope that people don't make wide generalizations about Japanese media, because from my perspective, philia looks no better than phobia and both are just as creepy. And don't worry, I've had experience with both... GAH.

The drama was liscensed before the anime. So it is just as original if not more original than the anime 'cause they had the script done before the anime. Most mangaka also go to Taiwan to oversee things in the production through translators, or have the option to. Such as Tada-sensei on ISWAK where Winnie followed the manga religiously such that anything he was forced to cut he snuck into the dialogue!! So don't say what you haven't watched. Besides not all J-doramas are based on manga or anime as you may not know... so that statement has a logical fallacy.

Can we stopped the prejudiced statements in this thread please? I really hate it. I'll stick a thread moderator to cut the statements out if they don't stop. No country is superior to another. No media is superior to another. They are just different. And different isn't good or bad, but for the sake of itself. More you find differences, the more you find it's just another way to process the world around us and there is no value judgment for that... so PLEAAASEEEE stop making value judgments and wild statements if you don't know what the hell you're talking about. When you've watched over 100 dramas of Korean. 100 dramas of Japanese, over 100 anime, read over 100 books from any country and watched at least 50 TW dramas, then you may make such value judgments. You may not have, but I have. And I'll point out your ignorance for you.

I'm disappointed. I mean there was a Taiwan version of Hana Yori Dango first than Japanese. I was looking forward to Ariel Lin as Kyoko.

Why would they use Chinese people if this is a Japanese animation/drama? I am just wondering this point; i mean dont they speak Japanese in that drama? Its weird and I am not saying its not gonna turn out well because no one have seen it before.....Not even the trailer and I saw on Wikipedia the other day that Japan stopped it because of various reasons.... I guessed it was really fine with me. ^^ I am glad they stopped it in time.

basically if they did continue with the casts like Jerry Yan, i won't accept it, i do like jerry but still, a big character that he'll take as a role... i think, it will &**@(!@$& and I don't want to see that.... I don't want someone to exaggerate their role too much... eventually ruining the entire film...

I don't really care but I thought they should have gone on with it... I mean if they bought the rights to film it then they should film it to the very best... and how can people complain when they haven't even seen it? And does it really matter who makes the drama? it doesn't always have to be the japanese first [no offense] who makes the drama, it would be a nice change but whatever my opioin

in a way, this is actually sort of a relief. i wasn't too happy with the people that were going to play ren and kyoko. i don't think it would've been done very well. it's not to say that Japanese are better at acting or Koreans are or Taiwanese. i think that wherever the manga (or manhwa) originates, that country should produce the drama. for example...Hana Yori Dango. Completely love the japanese version. Meteor Garden...not so good. it just isn't as touching or cute. and plus, hana yori dango had beautiful music that just helped make it that much better.

Yeah. I mean maybe that actor isn't really tall as Tsuruga-san.... ^///^ I guess you're right; maybe it'll just ruin the filming. ^^
