Charts: KAT-TUN goes nine straight [18/2/09]:

KAT-TUN's 9th single, "ONE DROP," led the charts this week with 281,000 in sales. This gave them their ninth consecutive #1, extending back to their debut single. This is currently the third longest such streak, behind NEWS (10) and KinKi Kids (28).

At #2 was girl band Stereopony, with 31,000 copies of their second single, "Namida no Mukou," which is being used as the theme song of "Mobile Suit Gundam 00." This is their first time in the top ten. Also in the top ten this week were The Gospellers at #5 and Salyu at #10.

Meanwhile, Thelma Aoyama came out on top of the album charts, selling 45,000 copies of "LOVE! ~THELMA LOVESONG COLLECTION~." Although she has had a #1 single before, this is her first #1 album.

Lil'B was not far behind at #2 with their first album, "Ima, Kimi e." AAA, Straightener, and Buono! also made the top ten with their latest albums.

omedetou KAT-TUN! I have a strong feeling that they're going to tie with NewS and mark their 10th consecutive #1 with their next single "RESCUE", which is scheduled to be released on March 11!

what a shocker

Why is it a shock to you? ALL of KAT-TUN's singles released since their debut all came out at #1, so fans are not at all surprised, actually, they're EXPECTED to come out on top every time.

Of course, non-fans would not understand that

That's true...because there's really NO competition between KAT-TUN & DBSK in record sales...it's very obvious KAT-TUN will totally pawn DBSK in the sales figures.

I'm actually shocked that you're shocked about this...I guess you probably don't understand just how popular and dominant KAT-TUN are...ever since their debut, ALL their singles have been #1...of course, if you're a non-fan, you obviously wouldn't know that would you?

That's true...because there's really NO competition between KAT-TUN & DBSK...despite DBSK's popularity in Japan, NONE of their singles have ever sold over 90,000 copies in their first week of release...whenever they do manage to get #1, they never went up against any of the JE groups...when their new single comes out on March 11, it'll be DBSK's first time against any JE group...and to top it off, they're going up against KAT-TUN; 1 of the most dominant groups in j-music! And really, going up against the JE is like a "death sentence", because ANY of the JE groups can easily sell over 100,000 copies in just 1 day of their singles release...KAT-TUN's "One Drop" single easily sold about 150,000 copies just in its 1st day alone! Now, compare 150,000 in just 1 DAY to below 90,000 copies in 1 week...it's very obvious that DBSK are NO match for KAT-TUN.
That's why many DBSK fans are very worried and disappointed, because they know already that they don't stand a chance against KAT-TUN.

Now, now, lets not get too cocky. I don't want DBSK fans to go "HA! I told ya' so!" if DBSK actually beats KAT-TUN.

Anywho, I'll be rooting for KAT-TUN, they're one of my fav. group. And congrats to them for reaching number one and staying number one. <3

Uhhhh The only reason they got #1 is because of the basic JE formula. Get girls obsessed over their looks and it doesn't matter if the song is actually good or if they got any talent.

woah woah....hold up there a sec!! i know ur just stating some facts...but cant u do that kinda tactfully? and like mushrie said...no need for the cockiness (^.~)
coz u neva know, dbsk may not sell more than kattun in this round...but who knows wat can happen in the future? bcoz without any bias, i can truthfully say that dbsk beats kattun in a few certain key areas...one being dancing.
i may have said this in other threads already but i just love emphasising the fact that these days singers (in particular bands/groups) need more than just good looks (although dbsk doesnt lack that) to make it in the industry...dancing is one very important area. like no offence to kattun, but their dancing is not too great...maybe JE needs to get them a better choreographer? or maybe they need to practice more...

all of that said...i am in no way an anti of kattun....i emphasise..i do like kattun as well
