Well first off it has been a while since my last thread. V_V

Anyways " HD " stands for High Definition which most of you should know or have now just learned.

I've seen many threads about HD and ingrates ranting about how cr has HD videos....

Now ask yourself this: "Self what does HD stand for, can any streaming site even support HD, have I ever actually seen an HD video? " Honestly ask yourself those question

Videos offer on cr ISN'T I repeat ISN'T HD... Think about it logically how in the world is a HD video file going to get streamed without any loss of quality?

Just a fyi the stuff people download blu ray and the 720p 1080p stuff from torrents irc ISN'T HD either. So some of you numskulls think I am biased which some of you do I know who you are -_-

HD The only way you are going to ever get an HD quality is if you actually buy the dvds or the blu ray discs!

There is only ONE exception to this and that is SHDV

SHDV has a resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels I don't care wtf you say that is high resolution. Even if you download this it is HD

I guess this concludes my ranting on why you can never have a true HD...

ps:

Streaming = upscaled videos.................................. you do know what upscaled means? -_-

EDIT: on second thought I'll teach you how to manipulate an HD video go to your computer.

set the resolution to 800x600, then get a video that is 700x400 you know what happens?

you have a 100x200 difference in height and width looks pretty HD to me -_- just because it is a big file or says 720p 480p doesn't make it HD.

^^ stuff in green is me calling people who do not know HD retards

I like hotdogs.

I won't even get into the technical imperfections in the initial comment... as I used to build non-linear digital video editing workstations when the standards were being developed for HD video. I think your argument is technically valid, but there is a logic issue.

Resolution can be maintained, the suffering in quality comes from "compression." Even if you buy a Bluray... it is still technically compressed, just to a far lesser degree than most streaming content. Uncompressed video would take up a serious amount of space.

Just for the calculation...
each pixel has a 24 bit color depth... (8 bits for red, 8 bits for green, 8 bits for blue) There are 8 bits to a Byte, so we can say each pixel would take up 3 bytes of information.

True 1080p has a resolution of 1920x1080... that's 1920 pixels across by 1080 rows of pixels... if you multiply these together you get...
2073600 pixels... if each one of those pixels is 3 bytes... that means the data load for a single frame of video is...
2073600 x 3bytes = 6220800 bytes

6220800 bytes is 6075 KB or 5.9326171875 MegaBytes (at this point let's round it off to 6 MB for simplicity)

So if each FRAME of video is roughly 6 MB uncompressed... let's see the calculation over time.
A movie is shot at 24 frames per second... meaning that there are 24 pictures that occur in one second of time... so back to the math.

if each picture comprises of roughly 6 MB of information then if we mutiply it by 24 we'll find out how much data is used in one second of uncompressed HD.

6 MB x 24 (Frames per second) = 144 MB of information per SECOND of uncompressed 1080p HD video footage.

There's 60 seconds in a minute....
144 MB x 60 (seconds) = 8640 MB per minute (That's over 8.4 GIGABYTES of information in one Minute of Uncompressed 1080p HD video!)

There's 60 minutes in an hour...
8640 MB x 60 (minutes) = 518400 MB per hour ( Just over 500 GIGABYTES of information in one Hour of Uncompressed 1080p HD video)

It would be a good thing to bring up that this is JUST the VIDEO... this calculation isn't taking into account 5.1 surround sound, subtitle tracks, alternate audio or anything.... which all add to the space.

so over 500 Gigabytes for just an hour?!?!?! Then HOW do they fit a 2+ hour movie with all this other stuff onto a 25 GB Bluray disk?!?!?!

Simple answer - Compression Fairies.

Compression fairies love hotdogs, and they take all the pixels that don't change from frame to frame and turn them into hotdogs and eat them. Then they take colors that are really close and make them the same color... and every so often (up to a few times a second if alot is happening on the screen) they show you a full picture - while they chew and swallow their hotdogs.

Then the fairies just say... "Look video player thingie... can you just fill in those gaps for me, because I'm getting full..."

...and the computer/player says...
"No problem little buddy - I don't want you to get fat and be unable to fly on your little fairy wings from all those hotdogs... so I will not only fill in that stuff... but if you want I can run a nifty little program that will allow you to skip a couple frames of video and I'll just make it up with some logic and complex predictions by looking at the previous and next info you gave me... I are smart like that! People are slow and dumb and can't really see that fast - so I think I can fake it..."

So the Fairies are like...
"Whoa... people are dumb! I'm going to eat more hotdogs, but what are we going to do about the audio!?!?!?!"

And the player is like....
"They need to HEAR stuff too!?!?!? People are pushy!!!! I feel bad for you little fairy buddy."

And the Fairies say...
"Well I have this cousin who's really good at figuring out how to take stuff out that the human ear can't really distinguish... like when a cricket is chirping while a gun is going off...you don't really hear the cricket... My cousin can basically eat the crickets...."

"Whoa... Your cousin eats crickets... that's cool... I have a buddy here who I work with who can imitate any sound - even a gun with an eaten cricket... maybe they should get together and help us out!"

"That's a great idea Mr. HD Video player guy!"

So they all get together...eating hotdogs and crickets and making free space for humans to stuff their videos that were way to big, onto disks that were too little...

and everyone lived happily ever after....

The End.

so again...

I like hotdogs.

Good luck with that.

To summarize what this guy said. If in an anime there is 500gb and about many many mb in a gb and much more in kb and more in bytes and plenty in bits. Then you get to convert it to mb/s which will give you the equation:

0 / 1 = Oh shi~!

Technically... anything devided by 1 is itself... so...uh...

0 / 1 = 0

and

1 / 0 = Oh shi~!

My hotdog fairies have been divided by zero... I should Rickroll myself in HD again...

and

I just lost the game / 0 = WIN!

hehe
Sid

P.S. - The ironic coincidence here is that I can actually recite Pi to over 50 decimal places... so your post posted an extremely appropriate motivational poster.... uh post poster posting post cereal....

Supposedly that was 1/0 but I dunno what happened to my finger, guess it really isn't allowed. Oh well. I just lost the game and you win internets sir...divided by zero
