I just see it strange and it annoys me slightly when people who go through an "anime phase" instantly start calling themselves an Otaku. I myself am incredibly addicted to video games/anime.. I understand and know I have this addiction and several times I have turned down a night out with friends to stay home and complete a anime series or level up on my online games or finish the last level of a certain game. My mind is constantly on that of the virtual world aswell, and I enjoy Cosplay etc. But I am still not in the category of a fully pledged Otaku and am what would be considered a "normal" person. Even in speech I will refer to phrases from video games or use ironic words that the person I am talking to looks at me like I've had a few to many magic mushrooms. (see what I did their? ) I probably do show signs of an Otaku but not a complete Otaku, I can still distinguish reality to and make believe. Although the make believe world is pretty....
