the scout gets two new weapons.
One is the "Sandman"
It's a baseball bat + a baseball, so you throw the ball, which stuns your opponents, then hit em with a baseball bat,
and a DOUBLE BARRELED SAWN-OFF SHOTGUN
so it's like the standard mini shotgun, only better

Sandman for Scouts clearly aren't OP at all, thank the lord for the patch though. The first day was pretty freaking hilarious though. There would be 10+ scouts and I'll be the only Heavy around with a Medic and got my achievement where him and I get 20 points with no deaths. Shit was awesome.

valve is extremely good at balancing their games they apply regular balance checks like the sticky mine and rocket ammo reduction, crit rate lowering, and sticky mine dmg limiter. they are constantly trying to even out the play time each character has by adding new incentives or powering them up in some way. the scout update personally i dont find as useful but its fun to play with the sandman and it can stop ubered people now

I remember when I first saw this and was so excited, but now that I'm a lot better with scout (fav class btw) I ended up liking all the original items better, except for teaming up with a friend and using bonk! to take down a pesky sentry

Something that I've found the double-barreled shotgun to be useful for is extending your jumps, particularly on maps like 2Fort. That long jump between the sniping spots can be significantly shortened with a well-aimed shotgun blast ;)
