Ok i'm not being racist or anything but asian parents tend to be more strict about this stuff.What was the weirdest thing your parents have ever done for getting a "bad" grade?
this is my dad's grading scale:
A=average
B=below average
C=crappy
D=dead
F=you won't get there because you are dead!
these were my grades for last quarter: A,A+,A-,A,A,and B+
apperently this is the most discraceful thing he has ever seen and i deserve to be disowned for that B+

My parents are white and they are the same way.

My grades were

A+,A+,A-,A,A-, and B-. when they saw the B- they said that I could have done better and that I didn't get an A because I spent to much time on the comp

My mom used to guilt trip me about getting Bs all the time because she "knew I could do better". I hardly ever got Bs at my old school anyway. I think it happened on a midterm like.. once.

Here, though, I still manage As and Bs so I'm happy.

...but I'm not Asian, so this... really has nothing to do with this post.

My parents stopped caring when I got into college. Now they pay more attention to the bills.

edit: oh, I guess the grades do matter beyond parental skepticism now too. My semester grades scale with my car insurance, so naturally as long as I pump out at least a 3.0, they don't give two shits =)

haha o man, my parents are insane about this stuff. In 6th grade i took the SAT (for practice obviously) and got a 780 on the math and my mom was about ready to beat me, that summer she made be go through about 4 books of only math drills :(. I got a B+ (in english) last semester and I got a slap across my face. Last year i didn't get top 3 in a state math competition (i got 6th ) and i got slapped for that too.

Ahh I don;t have parents like that. They just want me to do the best I can. Although I've usually earning the A range, they're not bothered by occasional B+'s.

Yeah my parents were pretty nuts about it when I was in high school. I had to quit a job I had because I got a C in math. Now that I'm back in college they really don't care as long as I keep passing. I think they're just happy I'm not working at McDonalds to be honest.

Oddly, they're thrilled I got a C in math this semester (as am I to be honest), but I'm one of those damned history/english people. I can write a paper like nothing else, but I'll be damned if I'm gifted in one marketable skill. But the program I'm in is pretty aggressive (we've lost about 60% of the class during the first year), so honestly I'm just happy I'm still there. It's not easy going back to school after working for like 5 years.

All I have to do is maintain a 2.0 to keep my MGIB coming in, keep moving forward to to meet all my prerequisites, graduate in a reasonable amount of time and I'm pretty much guaranteed a decent job when I graduate.

i dont really have a very very strict parents...
just as long as i graduate with the course they like...
and they chose accountancy.. and it's really hard to stay in accountancy program..
aside from the fact that majority of your load are accounting subjects,
you have to maintain a 3.0 ave... and it's really really hard to get an A-..

my parents are strict on that too. They even pick my career for me. And even when I am in college they still expect me to get the grades like when I was five years old. I can't get anything lower than a A- and if I get a B or a C they give this story:

"You know how you are the eldest in our family. You can't give such a poor example to your younger brothers and sisters. If both your dad and I could have gotten an education we would have surpass whatever expectations that our parents have for us. Do you want your relatives to say that we have raise such a lazy and stupid daughter? And ya ya da da. . . ." This lecture goes on for like ever!! and I still get it even when I am here in college. only it is different. . . ."No one would want to marry someone who doesn't have a degree. You need to be smarter to get a husband who is successful and intelligent." and yes, there is more too. .. but I am not going to type all the lectures out. Yup, Asian Parents are strict and expect too much out of us. They think we owe them for giving birth to us. well, my parents anyway. I never even got my first kiss in High school due to my parents. I got my first kiss when I was a sophomore in college! Urrgghhh.
