I don't know about he other but I'm a filipina and my parents get mad when I get grades lower than an A! Right now I have straight A's but there was this one time when I had a B. And i hate the disappointed look that my dad gave me.*sigh* Unfortunately, my brothers doesn't really have that good grades (i mean they have C's) but my dad wouldn't care as long as I have my current grade. There is too much pressure to me that I turn to anime and japanese drama for refuge.lol

My parents have the highest expectations among parents.
An 'A' is an 'F' for them. I have to get straight 'A+'s.

Once, when I got 5 'A+'s and 1 'A-' in Math, they grounded me for 2 months straight.
I still remember what my rude unloving dad told me that night, "You are a disgrace to the 'Altamonte' (last name). You will never see your friends until you raise that disgraceful grade. Your sister is a blessing to the family while you, Tran Hie Hao, is nothing but filth. You should be more like your sister. Grades comes first before anything else. Go to your room and start solving equations"
What the hell is his problem??
I take AP classes in high school with a perfect attendance and that's what I get.
It's not my fault my sister is better than me!

Well hopefully the next generation, our generation, will break that ridiculous cycle. It actually puts more unnecessary stress in learning getting remarks like that and defeats the purpose for you to do better though that itself is already a remarkable record. If they read it as percentages, having a 99% will probably have the same effect. My A+s would come out like 97-98 if that happens, then it no longer looks perfect in their eyes. That's just baloney.

Yeah my parents were pretty nuts about it when I was in high school. I had to quit a job I had because I got a C in math. Now that I'm back in college they really don't care as long as I keep passing. I think they're just happy I'm not working at McDonalds to be honest.

Oddly, they're thrilled I got a C in math this semester (as am I to be honest), but I'm one of those damned history/english people. I can write a paper like nothing else, but I'll be damned if I'm gifted in one marketable skill. But the program I'm in is pretty aggressive (we've lost about 60% of the class during the first year), so honestly I'm just happy I'm still there. It's not easy going back to school after working for like 5 years.

All I have to do is maintain a 2.0 to keep my MGIB coming in, keep moving forward to to meet all my prerequisites, graduate in a reasonable amount of time and I'm pretty much guaranteed a decent job when I graduate.

Lol yah Math is an evil class anyways 2 A's 2C's lol Jap Class and Math
Ditto Essays come easy to me same with speaking skill but go to math and equations slotter ya lol evil Pure Yes Definitly a Decent job out here when I Graduatr after the turmoil of College or University after High School lol

Soon you'll be more independent. And you'll be successful and you don't need to be worrying about nagging about your grades.

Im asian chinese, i guess most parents are strict about there kids grades, my sister bribed me with money when i was younger if i got good grades, nowadays i don't get that much of good grades, only avg or below, you see, as long as i pass idc about anything else, there better things in life then studying hours and hours a day....

Anyone with overbearing parents give me their numbers and ill give them an earful.

As far myself, damn slacker in high school. I had a reputation for doing little work, but actually being near the top. Dunno how the hell that spread around, as only the first part was true. Finished with a 2.5, which I now slightly regret as a higher gpa could have saved me some $$$. I still don't really care much, but its >3.0 so I get insurance discounts at least. Parents would say stuff about failing to get me motivated in middle school-high school. By this time they don't even bother to ask, ha, i win in the end.

Once you hit middle school here most people start slacking off, thats when most people start hanging out with the wrong peoples, once you hit H.S you see loads of drop outs or those hikimoris.

Anyway the school im going to, as long as you pass meaning 65+ you get the same amount of credits as a person that has an 100

Well all those strict parents out there would love to kill me and chop me up. I have really avarage grades but sometimes they just drop reeeally low cause my school is one of the hardest ones in Mexico and sometimes i just get too tired! So i sacrafice 1 grade for the others to go up. Its a scale of 0 - 10, my lowest grade was in biology last bimester, i got a 2.7 <--- WORST GRADE IN MY WHOLE LIFE
But my "grades as a whole" (i forgot how to say that xP)
is 8.7 - __- its still not great i wish it were higher but DAMNIT! I really try its just HARD!!!
