education is everything.. well almost.. the better the grades here the better the chances of getting a job.. some or most graduate would most likely end up in jobs not related to their course.. if your grades are high then looking for a job won't be a problem cause the job will look for you.. and applying would be easier..

i dont think getting a job has anything to do with what grades you have. i mean my employers never looked or asked for my grades just verification of mentioned certificate for whats mentioned on my resume

^ it depends on the company you are going to apply

but anyway, my parents were really strict.. they always repeat their stupid sermons and they always expect me to get line of 90 grades..

my parents don't care....they even got surprised that i was the valedictorian in primary school and that i got 100 marks on my exams during secondary....

they even complain about my reading too many books!!! where can u get parents like that eh????

I knew a girl once who almost failed out of school because she read too much. she was reading junk escapist books, nothing of any real merit, but still reading none the less. her parents always threatened to take away all her books.

ah that IS bad...lolz! i read a wide variety of books and occassionally fiction that can be classified as junk....if u read just one kind of book then it gets stale so variety is the spice of life! my parents' complaints mostly range on "how come u don't clean the house just reading ur books always" when i have actually done my chores! and they always say that when they were my age, they only read comics...hahahahaha!

they're weird, ne?

i think so. my friend, when she gets b's her mom's like that's ok. try more next time. when she gets a's her mom's like wtf. u can do much better than that. my mom and dad aren't that strict, but still expect a lot of me. i usually get a's but occasionally i get b's, and my mom and dad say "as long as u tried ur best"

I have bad grades at the moment but my parents don't know.
If they were to find out they will get mad, but they wont 'kill' me or anything
As a matter of fact, the next day they wont be mad at me anymore.

They just want me to graduate from high school.

Hmmm....no stereotyping please for the ASIANS! However, looking into my own perspective, grades do matter to every individual, if necessary. Some have their own reasons like lifting up their status of living...

A majority of Asian parents though (at least my Asian friends' parents) all fall into that stereotype. It wouldn't be called a stereotype if there is no similar pattern in a group of people's behavior. But i think any parent that is concerned about their children's future would be strict when it comes to education.
