Let's just say, this movie was beautiful.
It's so connected to real life situations,,
it made me cry.

If I'm not mistaken Makoto Shinkai was also the director of Voices of a Distant Star which featured the same melancholic mood (he indulges with that ) and marvellous landscapes. Great works both, but he'll surely drive me to depression if he doesn't show other feelings in his stories (come on, the palette is wide!).

Hey guys :)
I just watched the movie mich too late
I should actually be sleeping right now

I just wanted to share my thoughts, opinions and feelings as you did.

First thing to say : I didn't cry.

I was too confused about the inaction of the protagonist.
In that, I can imagine he didn't contact her because of the fear they grew too much apart.
Anyway, he did neither try to let go of her nor did he try to reach her. And I cannot see the insinuation of a dream to be astronaut. Sure he was fascinated by the stars and the ticket , but to me it seemed more like a symbol for his relation to Akari.
The distance and feeling of inability to reach source of fascination.

Would he maybe not have made the other 2 girls unhappy just by moving on or trying to see what really remained between the? His inaction really annoyed me the most, so I did not enjoy it as much as I could have otherwise. It gets a 7.5 / 10 for the beautiful soundtrack, the uniquely beautiful animation and the sweet story eben though the main character makes excellence of the film impossible to me.
