Most Convincing Acting Style
Posted 3/1/09 , edited 3/5/09
pls dont bash me ..im just stating my opinion as a viewer

no offense but i think korean actors/actresses arent really that good...they're faces doesnt changed alot... haha....blank faces =

taiwanese actors/actrresses act OA to me...i cant feel the emotions they wanted me to feel as a viewr =

Japanese actors/actresses exaggerated with their faces...yes u can feel the emotions but because the acting seem anime-ish, some people think theyre unrealistic.. =

american actors/actresses i think are really good...the changing of emotions in their faces are very natural..=

filipino actors/actresses i think can really touch ur heart..i might seem bias coz its my own race...hmm..their acting is quite different from the rest..they dont the cutie-cute/anime-ish acting like the other asians..making it more realistic...u can feel the emotions in their faces, especially when they cry..anyways theyre naturally good in crying.. =

Technology, good training of actors/actresses, great director and scriptwriter, and background music are some factors that make the acting believable.

and the winner of "Most COnvincing Acting Style Award" goes to.....*gong*.........American actresses/actors

Kdramas have pretty good acting in them, but it's very dependent on the direction and script. There are only a handful of actors who can go above and beyond. To me... they're not very good at comedy, need to loosen up and not be so stiff in that way.

Jdramas generally have good acting, but I only feel moved because of the situation involved, but they're good at creating an atmosphere that lets actors show the best of their abilities.

Hmm, what Jdramas or movies have you watched? There are specific dramas that are often more comedy than drama, and many others that are adaptations of manga stories, so of course if you only watch those, you'd have the impression that it's all oa. I'd suggest watching Letters from Iwo Jima or Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu to see some great acting from jactors.

Put it this way, I'd be saying American actors all oa if all I watch are sitcoms like Scrubs or comedies like Desperate Housewives or movies like Anchorman haha. I think it also has to do with the conservative culture in Asia. We're not as open with our mannerisms and emotions so actors are often fighting against that perhaps, and tend to overact to show it, or perhaps the stage direction makes showing an emotion too poignant. I don't think American actors are particulary better at acting, just that the Hollywood standard of acting are put up in a pedestal.

There's no particular style that's the most convincing, it really depends on the individual actor, and a particular performance, because even good actors have their bad days.

For me Korean dramas are ok. no offence but i think alot of korean actresses look the same and they lack variety. Acting wise there ok but nothing exceptional.
Taiwan dramas are horrible. I think alot of the fans of there dramas like it since the plots are mostly childish and easy to understand but the acting is BAD!. most of there actors cant even really be called actors in my view.
Japanese dramas in itself I love. But true some of there stars can really act and some cant and are just eye candy. but i think unlike other countries in a period of time the stars's acting credentials do begin to build. And i disagree with the part where you said its animated. Alot of j-dramas have serious non anime vibes to it. I guess you've just happened to see the ones that were.
Filipino dramas from what i've heard is just a bunch of remaked dramas from other countries. I have only seen my girl and that drama wasnt the best thing ever. I cant say too much about there dramas -_-
By far "Acting wise" american dramas/movies are best. BUT they do lack in plot lines. But there acting is extremely good. The reason is for me is that there actors/actresses actually train ahead of time.

Just like the acting factor, what American drama and shows do you watch? There are plenty of movies with riveting plot lines that are completely original to America, The Color Purple for one. Green Mile. Forest Gump, they just aren't watch as much overseas because they always want to see how American's remake there stuff. But there is a lot of original movies here. Blood And Chocolate, Blade. I mean I can on in different genres and races. I mean I personaly wasn't a big fan of the movie cause it is not to my taste, but the Notebook. Original and awesome acting. I can't help that a lot of foreigners love mainstream Caucasian shows. HELLO! America is not White! THere are so many movies that are extremely Popular with so many different races.. YOU! GO WATCH COLOR PURPLE! or GREEN MILE. IF those are too much for you I can easily recommend more. HECK GO watch the Notebook. Cailito's Way, The Godfather. Do I need to go on? Something Freaky and hard to understand but once you do you like dang that is good. WATCH BELOVED!

I've seen color purple, greenmile, the godfather, definitely forest gump already. and there very good. Forest Gump and The godfather are on my top list. I go to the movie theater about every week and I love american movies. i should have written it correctly i meant there tv shows and dramas. Alot of the newer tv shows are a spin off the another and most of the plots arent anything special. which comes back to my "lack in plotlines" thing. The movies are good too. lol all i wrote was the lack in plots meaning for tv shows kk? i didnt mean it for the movies. and its okay i dont need you to recommend me movies (:

american actors and actresses definitely wins this round..

maybe im biased? but i've always seen them as the "standard"

everything else i watch i compare to them and define their capability through it..

korea -they hold back.. sometimes it frustrates me how some actors just stand there and say their line unemotionally..

japan -yeah they are anime-ish.. but i love that in them.. they define entertainment for me..

philippines -they can cry on cue.. wow! they used to have good actors and actresses.. but now, they're just going with the asian hype of choosing someone with a face than with a talent..
