Check out Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. I went this past summer to Kyoto/Osaka and the price wasn't too shocking. Don't get me wrong, I did spend allot; however, I stayed at a rather nice hotel and splurged on good food, souvenirs, and tours. You can always do discounts by staying in a youth hostel or a カプセルホテル (capsule hotel). Prices can be rather high since the 円 is doing rather well in comparison to USD/Euro, but depending on what your looking for I guess it's not that bad really. Personally the best way I found to get around was by bicycle, so I ended up picking one up there and just giving it away on my return trip home. Since your only staying for a week, you can probably either rent or do public trans. I've now got a folder and will probably pack it up and travel with it this summer. Never again want to go during summer time ughhhh. But I had a fun time, conbini's are way better there than here, bank lady didn't like me because of language barrier, went to H!P concert when I WAS fan, LOVED how everything is efficient and orderly and cleannn, disliked there weren't many garbage bins to throw junk from my pocket/bag (had too much trash building up inside my bag haha) and the FOOD who doesn't visit anyplace and not try everythinggggg. I want to go back again, and see/take photos of what I wasn't able to last time. ;/ saving money to maybe late this year hopefullyyyyyy

You know when someone says something funny and stupid and they all like pretend to fall down or trip they really really do that!!! 1Year outside of Tokyo in Mitaka at ICU. Man when the tree around campus were sakura and they turned into a forrest of pink flowers was the wickedest thing you ever seen... I wahhh go back!!!!!!
