Ever been to Japan?
|
I lived there until October of last year with my fiancee, mostly staying in the Gifu/Nagoya area, but occasionally going back and staying a month or so during New Years with her family in Nagano. Loved it there, and can't wait to go back and live there again. Hopefully I'll be able to go back by the end of this year and stay permanently after I get that blasted working visa stuff done and get hired on at the English teaching school @__@

I went two almost three years ago. It was defiantly a lot of fun. I stayed with a host family for a week and a half. I was in the somewhat country area, which I really enjoyed. Biking to school was kinda a pain. Since I almost crashed into a rice paddy. lol. Everyone that went with me had different experiences though. For me it was an over all good experience. There are defiantly differences between the norm in Japan and America though. Like most people walk, bike, or take the train or bus (non-school bus) to school. And more people smoke, I'd say. But if you go there with an open mind and willing to adapt to the differences, I am sure your trip would be great. Oh and I rate my experience probably 9/10. ^-^

I studied in Kansai for 3 months, and lived in Tokyo for a year.. all my experiences were amazing. Before I first went, back in 2007, I was worried that I would have built Japan up in my mind so much that I would be let down.. but it was actually even more fun than I imagined
Yes the language barrier makes things difficult (my first time I barely spoke any Japanese), but that's the same with any country. Most Japanese people I chatted to in izakaya's and so on were really friendly. Being a foreigner can have advantages and disadvantages of course, and there are cultural differences to get used to, but yeah.. that comes with living abroad. I have tons to say about my experiences but I'll save that for more specific threads XD Oh and hopefully I'll be moving back to Japan this summer~ |

AkioFurukawa wrote: If so, care to share what your experience was like? Were you with home stay family? Etc, etc... I'll be going this summer with a home stay family. They seem really really really nice! ^^ I can't wait. It'll be neat because I get to go to High School with them for 2 weeks. At the same time, I'm kinda intimidated. x_x I know some Japanese but not a ton. >< I hope some really cute Japanese girl doesn't try talking to me and all I can say is "eto.. sumimasen, wakarimasen." :[ Anyway, share your experiences! And maybe even rate your visit 1-10... 10 being phenomenal. :D Yeah, I went for two weeks last month, overall I had an excellent time on the trip. So, I guess a 10. Share? Online? Naw, I did that once already and regretted it. |

Been to Japan 7 times all during the summer. I have family in Tokyo so I visited a lot. Last time I went was in freshmen year of High school. I really want to go there again since it was a lot of fun and I wasn't really into anime/manga as much as I am now lol. I visited places all around Tokyo and went to Kyoto. Can't remember the name but I went into this 20 story building that was all about anime/manga and was pretty crazy xD. I would give it a 10/10
