Hi buddies!

I don't usually interact with people on such topics, but this is something we all should think over. I'm not forcing you people to do anything, but the cruelity against animals in todays world is not acceptable.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), with more than 1.6 million members and supporters, is the largest animal rights organization in the world.

PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds and other "pests," and the abuse of backyard dogs.

Many household-product and cosmetics companies still pump their products into animals’ stomachs, rub them onto their shaved, abraded skin, squirt them into their eyes, or force animals to inhale them. However, hundreds of companies have signed PETA’s statement of assurance that they will not use animals for product testing.

There’s no mystery involved in creating deliciously satisfying vegan meals. Tasty alternatives to the animal ingredients that you may be cooking with are easier than ever to find—many are as close as your corner supermarket. If you’re just getting started, you may want to try simply “vegging up” your favorite recipes.

The cats, dogs, bunnies, birds, and other furry and feathered friends who share our homes and lives give us so much and ask for so little in return. Yet many companion animals have never known a warm place to lay their heads, a nutritious meal, or even a kind human touch. That’s why PETA is dedicated to making a difference for needy animals in our own community and around the world

For animals in circuses, there is no such thing as “positive reinforcement”—only varying degrees of punishment and deprivation. Animals do not voluntarily ride bicycles, stand on their heads, or jump through rings of fire. They don’t perform these and other difficult tricks because they want to; they perform because they’re afraid not to.

Are there skeletons in your closet? There is no difference between fur, leather, and wool when it comes to cruelty to animals. Every fur-trimmed jacket, leather belt, and wool sweater represents the intense suffering and gruesome deaths of millions of animals each year. Find out more at the following Web sites:

Please people try to make a difference, if you don't wanna go vegan I can understand, but still try! Its all worthwile!

PETA has an unfortunate rap a s being on the edge of legal in their activites (compared to ELF which frequently performs illegal activities to get their point across.) Because of that, I tend to prefer the calmer approach of the Humane Society. HSUS also gets involved in the occassional international event like the annual Japanese Dolphin Slaughter.

Still, I participate in both when I feel it is appropriate.

~vegetarian but NEVER a vegan, thank you. ^.^

Animals kill and eat other animals .... and guess what? Humans (Homo sapiens sapiens) are a type of animal.

Testing on animals should stop, maybe hunting and possibly clothing too but we're omnivores. We're going to eat animals no matter what some group says. There's bigger problems to think about.

That's easy to agree with. We don't have any real logical reason for testing on animals. Using science as an excuse will only work so many times. But, inevitably, even if we don't try, animals have a chance of bacoming extinct with us just living near their enviroments. There are many things that we can't change after all. So as long as it's a discussion about hunting for entertainment, i don't agree with it, but if you're talling us to become vegetarians, then, no way.

I agree that we were built as omnivores and it is in our nature to be predatory, though we approach it in a different way. I don't eat red meat, but that's mostly a personal preference. Vegetarians and vegans are cool by me, it's just not the road for me to take.

I'm also a bit skeptical of PETA's approach to "solving problems".

Yeah no.. I'm anti animal protection. Why? Because "protection" usually means killing them anyway or forcing them to live out thier lives in cages with regimented excercise. You want to "protect" animals? End animal domestification. Everything else is up to them and nature... and hunters (which technically are part of nature, but PETA probably disagrees)

I support PETA 110%....killing animals and using animals as guinea pigs (no pun intended there) is absolutely wrong!
