the first episode has been aired already about 2 hours ago (it airs tuesdays 9pm). first-hand reviews are coming in.

so far, i've seen and read 3 reviews, and all are leaning to the positive side (i have yet to see a review with spazzings though). out of the 3 reviewers though, only one of them has seen the anime for sure (the first reviewer isn't that familiar with the anime; the second, i'm not sure if she has seen it; the third, she's a morita fan through and through ), so i don't know for sure if it'll be the live-action that will please most of the anime/manga fans.

according to the morita fan who'd seen it, it looks like they'll be sticking to the major plot (unlike some of the other live-action adaptations) and they kept the humor in (unlike the movie). don't expect the drama to be the EXACT copy of the anime though. there's bound to be some differences because they're squishing the entire anime into 11 episodes.

*spoiler*

accdg to report, they included lohmeyer-senpai into the story, and nomiya also appeared in the first episode (a glimpse, i suppose). it looks like they'll gonna cover the 2 seasons for this live-action drama.
the next episode will have the morita-hagu kiss and mayama-yamada piggyback. mannnnnn, the pace is faaaaast!

*end of spoiler*

edit: another report just came in. and it came from another hachikuro fan (yanie of d-addicts). she compared both anime and drama in her review:

*spoiler*

accdg to her, "70% of the script was deviated from the original plot, but the characters' backgrounds stays the same. You can say, the drama is like a work of an alternate universe fanfic of the original manga/anime^^ All the characters stays the same, but they had different scenes."

i'm not gonna write her view of the actors 'cause that may affect our judgements when we get to see it (i think it's better to judge for ourselves. like in the movie, some of you disliked aoi yuu as hagu, but i know people who loved her in that role). but the thing that strikes me is that in the reviews that came from two hachikuro fans (from 2 different websites), both were perfectly happy with the casting of mayama in the drama.

oh, and accdg to her, so far, this is good but not great.

^ no problem. ^.^ it's just that i'm so impatient/anxious/worried that i immediately searched for reviews when the clock hit 10pm. it is just frustrating when i'm dying to know how the live-drama went and i can't see a glimpse of it anywhere, so i just resorted to the next best thing: reading reviews. hehe.

oh, the hard-subbed first episode will probably up here in crunchyroll later next week. two fansubbing teams are collaborating for the first time to sub this drama (SARS fansubs and LOVE SONG PRODUCTIONS fansubs). both are in for the hardsubbed version but i think noone for the softsubs. in the quickest subbing that i've encountered, they were able to put out softsubs available 2 days later (i think, i even remember an instance when it was out the next day), but the official hardsubbed version was put up for download in a week since airing. the problem here is that i don't think "love song productions fansubs" allow their subbed projects to be uploaded here in crunchyroll for fear of copyright infringment or something. SARS allows their subbed projects to be uploaded here though, but i don't know what the 2 subbing teams' set-up is gonna be for this collaboration.

okay, saw another 2 reviews. one done by a person who has watched the anime; while the other done by someone who doesn't seem to be familiar with the anime/storyline. these reviews kind-of lean to the negative side (ouch).

person who has watched the anime:
spoilers~ she says not to expect the drama to be faithful to the anime/manga. according to her, everything is different (example: the meeting of takemoto and hagu in the drama wasn't like in the anime; same with morita's realization of his feelings; moonriver wasn't mayama's ringtone, etc.).

^ i already expected this because as yanie has said in her review, 70% of the story of the 1st episode is different from the anime/manga. she said that it's like the placing the 5 hachikuro characters in different scenes.

person who hasn't watched the anime:
no spoilers~ according to her, it was just.... ok. he/she doesn't know if it's gonna be meaningful to the ones who have watched the anime or read the manga, but he/she finds it "on the verge of being boring." and she hopes for some conflict to arise soon.

^ ok, i don't even know how to react on his/her comment as i have not seen it yet. it could be that it's really a boring adaptation (but that conflicts with the previous reviews about the drama keeping some of the humor in), or it could be that he/she doesn't know about this being in the "slice of life" genre and he/she is not yet exposed to that genre. what i feel that is different with hachikuro is that it's not really plot-driven, but character-driven. it focuses on the growth of the characters (their life, love problems, career problems, etc), rather than it having a definite plot. i guess some people get that, some people don't (i happen to know some people who don't like h&c anime).

ooo i also find out that these two funsubs r doing it and i heard that SARS will allow if if credit is given but the also say SARS stating in their rules list that it shouldnt be uploaded on sites such as utube and cr wired right ?? btw most that say the hate H&C anime is because they r too young to understand

i think SARS allow theirs to uploaded here and veoh. i've seen some of their projects uploaded here and it didn't create any fuss with the subbing team (i'm 80% sure SARS knows that some of their projects have been uploaded here on cr). so there shouldn't be a problem unless SARS changed their rules.

oh, i've read another review and this came from a big h&c fan. she was..... disappointed , she expected a straight-up adaptation like in nana so she got disappointed by this one. also she thought it was a bit boring too. she missed the background songs of spitz and suga shikao and the comedy relief of morita (maybe it's not enough for her?). also, she commented that it is slow-paced (man, and i thought it was fast considering what's gonna happen in the next episode), and i think what she said is right because yanie (another reviewer) also agreed to it being slow (but accdg to yanie, she finds the pace to be like the first ep of h&c anime, but of course h&c anime has more humor in it to keep the people entertained). overall, she says that she was very disappointed because she had very high expectations. she was disappointed with the changes too.

mannnnn, this hurts my brain! i don't know what to think. this drama adaptation really got mixed reviews (so far, 3 positive reviews, 3 negative reviews).

ok. with that, i think we should open our minds to changes in order to appreciate this more. i think we should watch with lowered expectations as well so as not to be sorely disappointed.
