Sounds like the stereotypical Asian parent.
I've met and known many people in this situation.
I'm Chinese, and luckily, my parents are not pushy.
Although my parents may not like what I like, but they let me choose my path.
But I think they don't believe that I'll become successful and all that going down the art path lol
They DO try to hint what they want me to do though, like how my mom keeps mentioning architect as a profession whenever we talk about
my future career. It's just that they don't push it.

I actually WANTED to be a doctor when I was younger (Because I thought the stethoscope was fun lol) and I told my parents.
I bet you they were happy that I wanted to be one.
But then I started liking art and stuff and didn't want to be a doctor.
When I told them, they probably went "NOOOOOO!" inside their heads rofl.

lmao
btw i've wanted to be an ob-gyne at 5th grade

Looooool @ asian american parents. My parents are second generation. My parents both grew up in a good house hold, but they both did not attend college, do not make a lot of money, do not speak a word of Japanese, well, they aren't very "japanese" at all, they are beyond white washed. The outcome? Laid back parents who tell me to do what ever I want to do that makes me happy. I started out doing good in school, slacked off in high school, and doing better now. They rarely scolded me for getting C's and B's just to get by the boredom of school. They told me I needed to shape up and I never really did until senior year of high school getting straight A's.. They don't push me towards anything but doing what I want to do in life and trying to help me do it. My parents are dope.

Haha, well I wouldn't say they're my "friends" but yeah, they're a good set of rentals. But hey, it has some drawbacks being so laidback, it turned me into someone who's a big procrastinator, lazy, and well.. Maybe if i had more discipline I would do better in school. Like right now, I should be doing this online assignment for this project, but i figured it's a waste of time since it'll take me 2 days and it's due tomorrow. Project is 75 points, and the online assignment is 20 points... I'll get a 73% if i don't do it and get 100% on everything else, sounds reasonable, right?

I was a pretty big slacker in school, just coasting by, really. I knew quite a few Asians in school (probably why I was able to pass), you're one of the first I've met that was lazy, though.
