@ thread starter: Hmm... I guess you weren't that careful huh?

Not quite. Although similar, MJ's thread is more based towards people new to forums, and likely to get drawn in by other n00bish behavior. My thread is targeted to the assholes who are trapped in the spiraling vortex of doom. Besides, MJ actually speaks of etiquette. I do not.

Your view is conceivable, but as you and I know, the internet does NOT consist of only enthusiastic people who thinks of the enlightenment and the improvement of this byzantine world , but it also composed of those "assholes" (that you refer as), who doesn't use proper diction and punctuation. Also, I do agree that it needs to be tended, since I am being drawn to it and is starting to use such rowdy manners like "ZOMFGGGGG!!!!!!" . But I somehow think its fun to use. But Oh well....

I'm sorry, but you're being kind of a rude ass.

I totally agree with what you said pf, but are you suggesting something be done about it? Or is this thread to point out how not to post? What I think is unnecessary is when people post something entirely in a different color. You know, instead of just putting emphasis (with the color) on a single point, all of their text is a flashing red. Can't they stop being attention whores?

But nooo, post completely in yellow and make me squinty eyed. That feature's useful only in the profile. >.>
I also hate it when people abuse ellipses. "...........Okay..... but that's dumb.........!!!!"

Good thread btw.

I'm sorry for giving my 2 cents. Forums are mostly answered by opinions.

Opinions, huh?

Gee, you know, this really warms me up to you.

Well, my typical friend, your opinions suck.

Sorry to butt out of nowhere, but from what i can tell you just told a person that he isn't liked, then said this thread was pointless (that's debateable, depending on who you're asking), and purposely (after the thread starter stated he didn't like it) proceeded to put several useless smilies. How is that an opinion? That's just being rude.

This is what i don't like about some posts (good example would be above): users trying ot be witty but then just coming off as pathetic. Also, when you don't have lots of cr points, you're considered a noob and your post is basically ignored. Not saying that all users do this, just the shallow ones. Who actually care about points.

Yea, I hardly visit these forums anymore.

The simplest solution seems to be liberal bans and liberal post deletion.

Why is that not occurring?

Also modifications to forum design could help significantly...making it easier to skim and read quickly, etc.

I agree with you, but sadly the forums will most likely not change.

Some things off the top of my head that you missed:

~posting one word, post off topic, Go into a thread just to post that a certain thing sucks(such as going into the thread for the anime monster and posting: "monster sucs!11").

I agree with PF on this stuff. I've had it with illiterate noobs and the lazy assholes who never research topics. This bullshit must stop. Again, Jay talks about how to post while PF talks about behaviors that piss him off. Not to mention, PF is actually intelligent enough to know if a topic is taken and can do whatever he likes when making a thread.

You should cut them some slack. After all, they bump some of the good threads that are worth posting in compared to a lot of the your favorite____ which seem to fill up the front page of General Discussion everyday. Hell, sometimes they bout arguements at angry people but then again this isn't the place for it. D:

At any rate, they should sticky a separate posting etiquette thread since it seems no one takes a benefit of a doubt to even bother reading the forum rules anymore.

Well, punkfilter, despite your best attempts you have still managed to amuse me by tilting at windmills. Those who can and those who care to write in complete cohesive sentences do so. Those who can't and those who have embraced the budding, ever changing, Internet language will not.

Shall I tell you my pet peeve? People (especially groups of three or four) who uniformly and repetitively jab at a single comment, despite the point already having been made.

Stylistic immaturity "lyke dis" is annoying.
But put it at your best judgement to accept it.

I agree to what PF said basically but is it a problem with not typing in correct grammar / spelling? i mean though it would make it a bit difficult to read but sometimes when people type fast, they can't help making the letters a bit short. Also posting in forum topics doesn't need to be very formal right? We are not writing a essay to hand in to someone anyway.

for example "you " shortened into "u", and so on.

I agree, I don't mean to seem like a grammar and spelling freak or something but people, this isn't a chat room nor a instant messaging area. This is what we people call, Forums. We are here to discuss, not to put down pointless replies with spelling and grammar mistakes that are intentional. If you're too lazy to type "you" and type "u" instead, please, by all means, don't be like that. It takes less then a 5 seconds to type those 2 letter, even less time than that if you go on the computer on a daily basis. Also, like the forum creator mentioned, a smiley is not a reply. It is considered spam. spam = bad. Learn it.
