I don't deny the fact that sometimes i use short forms to write or typed for that matter. (It's faster that way. I didn't know it would be an issue.)

But if there is one thing i can't stand in forums is that posters sometimes tend to contradict themselves. They will say one thing and when another poster refute back, they will
change their "story" so as not to feel embarrassed.

I agree with you, the alternating caps lock drives me crazy and I despise bad grammar (except in certain cases where you are quoting someone).

I also agree on the putting only a smily as a reply. It's just wrong. If you're going to put one at least write something in front or after it so it doesn't just take up space on the thread.

All I have to say to that is thank you for saying it, I was talking to me sister about it last night because both of us have been using the site for longer than most people, including you, and most of these annoying idiots have joined fairly recently. On other sites where you have to pay this doesn't happen, mostly because the mods will ban anyone who annoys them, but unfortunately if we want to enjoy this site without paying for it we'll just have to deal with the idiots that come with it. The worst thing is the majority of people on cr now are stupid, no offense to anyone, so anytime a good, interesting thread starts it's quickly buried under other threads, or ruined by people posting replies consisting of one or two word answers, a "yes" or "no" or smiley face. As much as I would like to say, I have to keep it PG or I'll be getting in trouble so I guess that's it from me.

Yeah, it's fun to be stupid, but it can get really annoying sometimes.

I agree with this because the way you type is really important. This is a place to express your liking or disliking for something, it is not a place to be using chat room talk. I believe that people should be using correct grammar because well what did you learn in school. Sometimes smiley faces don't really answer anything so it is better to type something thoroughly then to take the easy way out because some people usually don't understand game talk. Before you know it you'll be very use to this way of typing and also you'll be able to help stop chat room talk in the real world where it's not relevant. Punctuation is life, you need it to figure out what mood they are in sometimes. Other then that PF you've nailed it. I've been looking for a thread like this. Good job.

I made up rules for myself based on what I hate other people doing, such as:
Never just agree. Posting something like "Yeah, you're right" is annoying. If you must, add something to it, which is basically what I did in my previous post.
If you don't lol, don't write it. "lol" means laugh out loud, and should only be used when things are funny.
Don't unnecessarily shorten words. This is a forum, not a chat room and even then it doesn't take that much longer to write full words, especially when the "shortened" versions have the same amount of letters or close to it, like "thanx" or "corse". I occasionally say "coz" without meaning to, but I don't mind that as much since it makes sense and is actually faster. I still don't like doing it because it makes me seem much stupider
I can't really be bothered writing out everything that I hate about forum posting, but you get the general idea. I try to use proper grammar and punctuation, it's not too difficult and it means that when you go to type up an essay your teacher won't "lol" at your spelling.
These people make all teenagers seem stupid and immature. Too bad I can't sort it out

I agree with this thread on a whole but particularly aznchick424's point. A butt load of quotes in quotes is pointless and makes the page ridiculously long.

This is a great thread for identifying who is sick of the crunchyroll forum status quo.

Some people ask me why I even bother talking to anyone on CR. Well, partly it's because, as a white guy, this is a place where I'm actually in the minority. In some ways I think I'm here the way an anthropologist might be... to get opinions, ideas, and facts from people who are different than me and live in different cultures. Sadly, all cultures have their immature idiots and plenty of them seem to be here.

I think getting rid of CR points for forum posts might help. I think lots of the stupid terse responses like "lol" and ":)" would go away then.

Sometimes. when I read other people's posts I can't understand a single word they say 'cause they sometimes replace words with numbers!! Like for example:
"Th3y're right, you could do better than any1" it's so annoying and it makes people think you're a dumbass!!

Well u can't blame some ppl for being a idiot in the forums. Forums are made for discussion...

Not for spamming for CR points with just short msgs, abusing the color feature, and smiley's of course...

Chats (well i did that in the past and learned from my actions) it does become a habit at first but u have learn that the chatroom was made especially for something rather just spamming for CR points which are completely useless in reality.

Some ppl don't know the meaning checking their spelling and grammar when it comes to the forums. Either they are absentminded or just idiots wanting attention. Note coloring ur words won't draw attention to u....it shows how a n00b u are including smiley's.

Btw i don't think this thread is needed; Its been said in the rules and that thread "From N00b to Vet"

Unfortunately for you I'm in a bit of a vindictive mood and have decided to pick apart your post a bit.

Since the best place to start things is usually at the beginning I shall follow convention and begin with the first paragraph of your post. Let's being with the opening sentence, "Good evening." Not exactly a wonderful opener to a thread meant to point out idiocies in forum posting. We can forgive this one though since if we stretch our minds hard enough we can see an attempt at structure even if it is a horrible sentence.

Moving on to your very next sentence, "Right now, I'd like to address a problem concerning all of us, and nearly single handedly put me into self-exile from the forums." Where do I start with this one? "Right now" is a waste of space, you'd be better off omitting it. Writers who use a lot of words do so because their too lazy to condense their thoughts in a precise manner. "I'd like to address a problem concerning all of us" This actually is a reasonable sentence, it attempts to draw us as readers into the conflict and while horribly cliche it's still mildly successful. This sentence really falls apart after the next comma though, "and nearly single handedly put me into self-exile from the forums." this is just ugly. To put it mildly this is a rambling run on sentence that isn't even coherent. Just stop and read it out loud to yourself again, "Right now, I'd like to address a problem concerning all of us, and nearly single handedly put me into self-exile from the forums."

Let's try to revise this just a tiny bit (note that I am attempting to keep what I believe to be the author's original intent in tact):

I'd like to address a problem concerning all of us. It's a problem that nearly put me into self imposed exile from these forums.

As you can see here by splitting it into two sentences and being more concise an easy to follow train of thought is achieved. However this blatantly points out the last glaring fault in this paragraph. That is that the paragraph itself has no point and is an incomplete thought.

Before you decide to rail on the rest of the community for things like spelling, grammar, and lack of punctuation please work on your own; spell check will fix spell errors and fragmented sentences but it doesn't help with stupid yet.

Edit: I'm not really trying to pick on you but it's sad that someone at 18 can't handle paragraph and sentence structure. Notice that my post is neatly divided into an opening paragraph that briefly explains my intent and reason, the second deals with your first sentence, the third with your second, the fourth with suggested revision and an overview of the paragraph, while the last delivers the message.
