This thread makes me sad. Everyone is praising someone who appears to have trouble typing out a clearly stated thought. It's like a bunch of chimps clapping for the orangutan that managed to peel an orange but crushed it in the process.

don't be sad. Don't let it bother you. Just think of it as fun. (I don't know if that helps. If you want... you can ignore me)

Good evening. Right now, I'd like to address a problem concerning all of us, and nearly single handedly put me into self-exile from the forums.

I'd like to address the topic of forum posting. Or as I prefer calling it, "The Chain of Assclowns...lol." Although the plurality of you may think that this thread was intended to amuse you, I beg to differ. In fact, leave now, for during the duration of this thread, all I will be doing is n00b bashing you.

For the rest of you with some degree of intelligence, you know what I am talking about. Those retards on the internet that really don't quite belong. Well, it is hard to put into fluent English at any rate.

So consider this simulation. You are carrying on a relatively peaceful conversation about politics with someone who actually know what they are talking about. (Which is rare enough as it is.) And then, some one posts: "down wit bush lol."

OK, that is just a single example to set us straight. Now, I have no problem in any way, shape or form of people saying "lol." But only if there is something to actually laugh at. So, moving on from that, here is something people should avoid:

~Saying things like "lol" or "roflmfao" when there really isn't anything funny lol.
~Not typin wit corect grammer an spellin.
~TyPing In AlTErNatiNg Caps LOCk
~not capitalizing things where capitalization is neccessary, or Vice Versa.
~Not using proper punctuation where it is key to reading the sentence properly.
~Talking about things you know nothing about. Pfff...Nuclear physics is a peace of cake.
~Being offensive for the sake of being offensive. Fuck that bitch and her dirty ass cunt friend.
~Lying about your age. Not a big deal, I know. But it still pisses people off. I'm 28 by the way.
~Being disrespectful. Respect should be given freely, but it should also be taken away easily.
~Replying with only a smilie,
~

There are other things, of course. If anything has escaped me, please feel free to post them here.

i would vote you to be a mod...tho you be a hardcore mean ass mod type that wipe us forum whore away clean with your iron fist

Believe it or not, but I nearly became a mod a year ago.

But I ended up getting banned instead.

Well, it is quite a long story, I think the mods made a thread about it somewhere.

I agree with most points but not all of them. All I need to have in a thread is a readable argument (implying that the thread had an argument to begin with)

Unfortunately for you I'm in a bit of a vindictive mood and have decided to pick apart your post a bit.

Since the best place to start things is usually at the beginning I shall follow convention and begin with the first paragraph of your post. Let's being with the opening sentence, "Good evening." Not exactly a wonderful opener to a thread meant to point out idiocies in forum posting. We can forgive this one though since if we stretch our minds hard enough we can see an attempt at structure even if it is a horrible sentence.

Moving on to your very next sentence, "Right now, I'd like to address a problem concerning all of us, and nearly single handedly put me into self-exile from the forums." Where do I start with this one? "Right now" is a waste of space, you'd be better off omitting it. Writers who use a lot of words do so because their too lazy to condense their thoughts in a precise manner. "I'd like to address a problem concerning all of us" This actually is a reasonable sentence, it attempts to draw us as readers into the conflict and while horribly cliche it's still mildly successful. This sentence really falls apart after the next comma though, "and nearly single handedly put me into self-exile from the forums." this is just ugly. To put it mildly this is a rambling run on sentence that isn't even coherent. Just stop and read it out loud to yourself again, "Right now, I'd like to address a problem concerning all of us, and nearly single handedly put me into self-exile from the forums."

Let's try to revise this just a tiny bit (note that I am attempting to keep what I believe to be the author's original intent in tact):

I'd like to address a problem concerning all of us. It's a problem that nearly put me into self imposed exile from these forums.

As you can see here by splitting it into two sentences and being more concise an easy to follow train of thought is achieved. However this blatantly points out the last glaring fault in this paragraph. That is that the paragraph itself has no point and is an incomplete thought.

Before you decide to rail on the rest of the community for things like spelling, grammar, and lack of punctuation please work on your own; spell check will fix spell errors and fragmented sentences but it doesn't help with stupid yet.

Edit: I'm not really trying to pick on you but it's sad that someone at 18 can't handle paragraph and sentence structure. Notice that my post is neatly divided into an opening paragraph that briefly explains my intent and reason, the second deals with your first sentence, the third with your second, the fourth with suggested revision and an overview of the paragraph, while the last delivers the message.

Ouch. I believe my sentence was just brutally assaulted. And rightfully so. I suppose as a classicist, I tend to want my sentences to extend past the normal length, and into a collection of thoughts instead of only one. So, following this chain of thought, I would rather, instead of two sentences, it would be modified into a indirect statement:

I'd like to address a problem concerning all of us that nearly put me into self-imposed exile from these forums.

I also added a hyphen, because I think that is how it should be.

The reasons why I'm not really fond of submitting essays even if I like writing from time to time. Thakfully none of my teachers before my final quarter in college english was overly stingy about structures. I'd rather stick with simple and direct thoughts. I don't need to make my writing like that coming from a literary genious.
