I have a HTPC in my living room and while it does a kick ass job of displaying downloaded videos and playing DVD's, I find myself watching my favorite anime shows on a 15" Dell laptop with crappy speakers.

Is it possible for Crunchyroll to support a backend interface for streaming media to a mediacenter like XBMC? Looking at the number of plugin developers, this wouldn't take too long to add to XBMC (and possibly others).

Perhaps this can be a service to paying customers only, making a compelling argument to subscribe if you want to enjoy your 720P Naruto Shippuuden or Skip Beat! on your home cinema set.

I've searched the forums before and I can't seem to find a discussion about the yay or nay of such a feature

you have to remember not everyone is a proud owner of a HTPC..

why don't you just hook your laptop to ya telly via VGA?

First off, an old Xbox will do to run XBMC so for as little as 40 to 50 bucks you can be the proud owner of your very own HTPC Also, the number of people using a HTPC or a normal pc/laptop with HTPC software on it is increasing each day. While we may not be the majority we commonly are the group of people willing to spend money on things like this (and fancy home theater equipment - hence my suggestion to only support this for paying members to make it worth while for CR (as in more members) ).

Secondly, I have a DTS receiver so I need even more cables to hook it all up. Then theres the issue of controlling the media as the laptop has to sit near the TV - which is not near me - so pausing, skipping etc become quite the workout (voiding the whole relaxing idea in the living room).

Finally; I use XBMC but other (free) media center software packages might support this as well so if you have a full HD monitor, you might use media center software on your regular computer with that. Wouldn't it be nice to just select whatever you want from the CR library with a remote/keyboard instead of running it in Flash in a browser?

On another note: most (native) video players do a heck of a better job of upscaling the video image while they don't rape the CPU like the CR player does (when it tries to squeeze 720P at 25 fps through a number of relatively slow filters).
