I had one of the first 360 core units purchased probably in the first couple of weeks after its release. I would say it lasted for 3 years or so before getting the red rings of death but because I had an extended warranty, I was able to have it fixed by Microsoft for free but sadly, the red rings reappeared probably a year or so ago. I then upgraded to an Elite model which I have been very happy with every since.

One red ringed after two years and its replacement red ringed in one month. So I have a third one that is two years old I'm lucky that it hasn't broken on me yet cause my warranty expired some time ago. I guess it's easy to say that 2 360s have broken on me.

Ive dealt with 3 red rings, first time I got a replacement, then that one red ringed so I bought a new console and sent the other one back, the replacement I gave to my brother, then that one red ringed and I sent that one in. So far both current 360's seem to be running fine.

None. It's been on planes, and cross country road trips; over friends houses and to college with no problems.

People need to take care of their stuff and there won't be problems for the most part. What a lot of people don't understand about the older models, is that running the drive creates a lot of unnecessary heat in the system which causes the majority of the problems. You should be installing your games to the hard drive instead of running them off the disc.

When I first got my Xbox 360 installing games wasn't an option and I got the external fan to help cool it and it still didn't help. I took good care of my 360's and I still had red ring issues. I seem to have a stable 360 now (minus some tray issues).

2 red rings, then on the third one the disc tray had severe reading problems.
I've been babying my current one,as I have no funds to replace it as of yet.

Let me think, 6 total. Reason why I kept buying them. I had a library of games that were over 50 titles. I don't want to buy them again if I bought another system.

I encountered the e64 error many times before I actually got a serious problem, that being the red ring of death e64 error only involved me removing my hardrive and slotting it back into place while fixing the red ring of death took a little more than that. Thankfully my dads friend, being a serious gamer himself who purchases broken xbox's, fixes and sells them for a small profit (convenience much!) was able to fix my Xbox 360 for free. (mates rates) ever since then my Xbox has been running smoothly and to avoid straining my Xbox in order to help prevent it happening again I install all my games from now on onto the actual hardrive so it runs smoother while calling on less performance so it doesn't overheat.

Twice... on the same system... and it still works. It sounds like a v-8 engine, but it works.

One so far. You think after the system being out for seven years they would have fixed the problem but no...

I've been blessed I guess... My Xbox only got the red rings once(a former friend of mine who has shitty wiring in his house, moved the cord and caused a spark/short) , and I've had it for 4 years (2 years on xbl).
