...I think the ending is up to us to think whatever we wanna think. Anyway, I thought Tomoya was just imagining about his life if Nagisa and Ushio didn't die.
I didn't think that the illusionary girl saved Tomoya's family when those light orbs stuff were released.

Aaargghh...so confusing. Why didn't the creator made it more obvious? *sigh* What do they want us to think?

I'm thinking that the producers put on that ending in a fashion where it puts the audience to what happened.
Some could argue that the miracle took place or they just died, and it was a dream by Tomoya of how life should have been if Nagisa and Ushio were still there.
Amazing series. I cried so much when Nagisa and Ushio died.
It all comes down to the point of where you beleive the mysterious girl and her junk/bear or the miracle played any role in reviving the family.
A really mature anime in conclusion

Could someone "Dumb" down what they said, so in the ending did Nagisa, Tomoya & Ushio died? Then they were brought back to life?

You put an excruciating amount of thought into this, my friend. The ending to this anime was bugging me alot so, I went back to watch it again. From Clannad to Clannad: AS and I agree with you. I was on an entirely different plane with my assumption; which can be read elsewhere. But, I am coming to see your point of view. There were several instances of hinting, masked by imagery and ambiguity that would enable a viewer to miss the obvious signs before them. I thank you for your wonderful review and will discuss this with those I have FORCED to watch this beautifully done Animated tale brought to life. Again, thank you.

You're being a little too critical, I think. Sue me for spelling. Whatever.

If you remember back in the show, they discussed parallel dimensions. When you think about it, the girl and the robot were supposed to represent Ushio and Tomoya in the normal world. On top of that, with this being one of my personal favorite anime's, I believe the writers figured that was too sad of an ending to leave Nagisa out. Personally, I like Nagisa as a character, and I believe it was a good ending. Maybe a little confusing, but still a good series.

Also, about Tomoya's grandmother, for all we know, she could have aged well. There's a difference between speculation and being overly critical.
