The official Japanese website for the Linebarrels of Iron anime series has announced that production on a side-story episode, "Tensai Bishōjo Kagakusha Rachel-chan" ("The Genius Bishōjo Scientist Rachel-chan"), has been green-lit.

This unaired 25th episode will be included on the ninth and final DVD volume of the anime series. As the name implies, the episode will focus on Rachel Calvin, the brilliant young head of JUDA's research and development from America. A one-shot "Tensai Bishōjo Kagakusha Rachel-chan" manga ran in Akita Shoten's Champion RED Ichigo magazine alongside Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi 's main Linebarrels of Iron manga in Akita's Champion RED magazine.

Series like this are one-season runs. It's EXTREMELY unlikely that the show will be extended beyond this into a 49 episodes second (eps 26-49) season.

The above post I made via ANN for the one-off OAV episodes typically indicates the close to the franchise. It is possible there might be one further OAV after episode 25 as the Japanese distributors like to sell DVD sets in even number pairs (hence why 26 episodes is favored per double season)

I would not hold out for a second season. (espeically since the reception of the series and the ratings were not as high as hoped, and Gonzo's massive staffing cuts)

Hopefully 26 (if they make one) will be better than "Rachel-Chan and Friends".

It's not called Linebarrels of Iron. That's the name of the anime. Never once is Linebarrel mentioned to be made of iron. that's just a stupid translation mistake. The name of the series is Kurogane no Linebarrel NOT Linebarrels of Iron.

kurogane means in japanse = black steel and iron has a black like colour , So that is why linebarrel of iron but still that doenst explain the kurogane part ( black steel ?) i smell something fishy is going around here

I'm pretty sure the Linebarrel you're talking about is the one that appeared in the last ep right? That was just Mode B with an aura. I believe that there isn't such a Linebarrel in the manga. And Mode B is the real mode of Linebarrel. When Hayase rides it it is white. the reason it's called Mode B is because it was seen second. Also it's not even called Mode B in the manga. It just stays as Linebarrel.

I'd say there's about a 10% chance of a second season. It was a confusing way to end a series but that doesn't mean that they are setting it up for another season. A couple of OVA's? Maybe. A Movie? 30% chance of happening. They sewed up the ending just enough to satisfy you but left it a little enigmatic to keep you wanting more and asking questions. Which is what they really want.

I don't know japanese personally, but I have a feeling the series has the name it has for similar reasons that Fullmetal Alchemist has the name Hagane no Renkinjutsushi.

In Chinese, there is perhaps an equivalent term 'Tid Da' that means 'hammered iron/steel-forged' and has the connotation 'stalwart', 'fearless', 'determined', 'invinicible', or 'of unyielding resolve'. This is the where the popular movie/franchise Iron Monkey gets its name in reference to its seemingly invincible masked hero . If the usage is similar in Japanese, particularly in references to different stages or grades of steel production (relating to the creation of swords), then Kurogane no Linebarrels (i.e., Linebarrels of Iron)refers to the fearless resolve of the Linebarrel Machina and its Factor(s), particularly Kouichi Hayase.

Kapeesh?

Of course, the further question is this: What is a linebarrel such that an invincible Machina would be named after it? I take it that this refers to the line of fire of the spinning barrels of a revolver-type gun.

I hope for a second season although not sure what story to continue maybe next the enemy will be the other pair of hayase and emi as the bad guys!!!!<<<love to see it........
well as for gonzo not making additional season, Rosario to vampire has a season two and it is a gonzo anime.
SO there is still a high chance of linebarel to get a second season.
well I think the anime is good overall but extra stories will be needed as there are still many questions unsolved.
and would love to see emi and hayase kiss

I'm willing to bet with in a year, Gonzo itself would cease to exist. they've just been delsited which is usually the first step to the end of the line for most Japanese companies. There was little to no hope before this that the series would extend beyond one or two OAV's.

nah i dont tink that gonzo would cease too exist because there already made alots of money for making tsubasa and now there even released the last part of the OVA wich would be a best seller. I am willing too bet that gonzo is going too make ovas that you need too buy so there can make profit form it of linebarrel ofcourse
