so far the anime line up seems lame aside from shangri la which seems to be promising and the regular naruto shippuden and gintama the rest of the anime line up seem dull and not even worth watching i should not have renewed the membership if it was going to be like this....

So, any speculation/hints/etc. on the new show (currently just labeled "COMING SOON") launching on Sunday at noon? The cranky old fan in me is hoping for Shin Mazinger Z, but we could never be so lucky.

What's up with Shangri-la already being up on other sites? It's over 24hrs before this purported "simulcast" is supposed to happen! I want an explanation.

I watched Peeping Life today.

I hadn't been on crunchyroll in months. I only logged in today to cancel my account and stop the annoying emails. And then I found this gem. Bravo, CR. I had almost completely given up hope, but i suppose there is a little glimmer for this corporate otaku behemoth. THIS is why crunchyroll was established. Not for the overblown, overexposed programs streaming all over the net, the Narutos and Bleaches and god knows what other mass marketed anime. The real CR was for these little diamonds hiding in the woodwork, parcels of genius, artistry, pathos, or just all round inimitable cool that one couldn't get access to by just looking at the top rated vids on youtube and CERTAINLY not by walking into the local video store. Where else could we watch pieces like Midori, Eternal Family, Citizen Dog? A network of astounding collections, the true aficionados of Japanese and Korean media making clandestine displays of their treasure for the rest of we converts to sample.

Of course, I wax ridiculously eloquent for what amounts to a five minute throwaway clip eliciting cheap laughs from faux pas and tacit homoeroticism. But, just the presence of these in the new, emasculated CR speaks to me of some future hope and present subversion in the offices of the corporate entities calling themselves "shinji." One can perhaps hold out the vague hope that, on a dusty server somewhere in San Francisco, there's a collection of obscure TV tokyo clips, arthouse anime movies, and rare PVs that have zero hope of ever seeing release in a licensed form on a shiny disc. Perhaps one day we'll be allowed access once more to this repository of works, the sweat and blood of countless creators, often vapid, boorish, and obvious, but sometimes truly remarkable. Until then, I'll try to stick it out. And keep watching Peeping Life.

I sure hope Crunchyroll simulcasts Metal Fight Beyblade. I wonder which section me, or other people can go to to request this stuff.
