Special A vs. Ouran High School Host Club

I sort of got this idea while I was watching and reading the Special A anime and manga. I thought to myself that there are some similarities that both SA and OHSHC share. Since I'm a fan of both, I can spot some of those similarities and I'd like to share them here. If you guys know of these two series and are interested in adding some points that I wasn't able to share here, please do add. I'd be glad if you guys will share too.

So here are some of the points that both of them are similar in (in my opinion):

1) Both of them have 7 main characters
Special A:
(1)Kei Takishima
(2)Hikari Hanazono
(3)Jun Yamamoto
(4)Megumi Yamamoto
(5)Tadashi Karino
(6)Akira Toudou
(7)Ryuu Tsuji

Ouran High School Host Club:
(1)Tamaki Suoh
(2)Kyouya Otori
(3)Haruhi Fujioka
(4)Hikaru Hitachiin
(5)Kaoru Hitachiin
(6)Mitsukuni Haninozuka
(7)Takashi Morinozuka

2) The main setting (the school) is for the elite or the rich

3) There is one commoner within the main group (the 7 main characters)
Special A:
Hikari Hanazono

Ouran High School Host Club:
Haruhi Fujioka

(Plus, their first names start with an "H")

4) Both groups have twins
Special A:
The Yamamoto Twins (Fraternal)

Ouran High School Host Club:
The Hitachiin Twins (Identical)

5) Both groups had an experience having a "Host Club"
Special A:
In the anime - Episode 17 (Kokusen Academy Festival)
In the manga - (sorry I forgot the chapter but it's still related to the Kokusen Academy Festival)

Ouran High School Host Club:
- whole series - (that's why the title has it - "host club")

6) One character from each series have gender bender issues (boy pretends to be a girl or vice-versa)
Special A:
Finn Koupe Shuzette - a character from the manga that pretends to be a "prince" for a small country despite of "her" gender

Ouran High School Host Club:
Haruhi Fujioka - a female who was pretending to be a male member of the Host Club to pay her debt (she has to pay for an expensive vase that she accidentally destroyed)

7) One of the main characters have issues with their grandparents
Special A:
Kei Takishima's Grandfather

Ouran High School Host Club:
Tamaki Suoh's Grandmother


So what else did you guys notice?

try to see.

ouran host club has 7 members.
SA has 7 members, though they have more girls.

what bothered me most was the ending!

both the male protagonistsTamaki [ouran] and Kei [SA] left their schools to go abroad and both the female protagonists Haruhi [ouran] and Hikari [SA] ended chasing after them. In both animes, the rest of the group supported the idea of chasing after their "leaders" and were one by one stopped by some forces leaving only the heroine to do the rest of the job.

and in the last part of ouran, Haruhi was accidentally thrown off the bridge and Tamaki jumped after her. Then the two of them sank into the river.

in SA, Kei managed toget out of the country and the gang went after him. just like ouran, their scene was that they jumped off the balcony and kissed each other, the next thing, they back in japan.

that was a very good observation!!! i didn't even notice that! (i'm talking about the ending)

... Oh yeah, you're right. Both of them have lots of similarities... but so do a lot of other Anime's.... i think... haha

However, Nothing beats OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB for me It's still No. 1 :D

Special A was very enjoyable.... but not as enjoyable as watching the Host Club :)

same goes for me...although i liked special a, ouran high school host club is still the best...i never get sick and tired of watching or reading the series, over and over again...hehehehe^^

*The theme of Special A is romance together with comedy just like Ouran High.

*Both characters are studying at an elite and private school.(Hakusenkan and Ouran High)

*If Ourah High has a host club consisting of of cute & charming guys,Special A has also a special class consisting of intelligent students.

I never really noticed. >w< But I like both a lot. I wouldn't be able to chose between them if it costed my life.

hm anime's are alike too but i would have to say i like s.a better! but the anime producers made up the endings for both of the anime's ....

i luv both Special A and Ouran High School Host Club!! they are both funny and romantic!!

yeah they can be similar but for me ouran is still the best!!!and the Hitachiin twins rule!!!i like them more than the Yamamoto twins!!GOMEN,GOMEN JUN-SAMA!!!I LOVE YOU BUT I LOVE HIKARU MORE!!!
i still hate the ouran's ending!!
oh i found another similar thing-in both of the animes i hate the main male characters ((aka Tamaki and Kei))
