Their first digital single "Lollipop" will be released on March 27th, 2009
YG Entertainment explained that 21 came about because their music will always be fresh, like the age of 21.
It also references to the best hand in a game of blackjack.
CL will be the leader with the other members being Park Bom, Sandara Park and Gong Min Ji.

21 has taken over the online charts, but someone else has already taken over 21.


Netizens, “Oh no. ‘Female Big Bang’ to be called ‘21′, but isn’t there already a singer named 21?”

2 days back, it has been decided that ‘female Big Bang‘, a upcoming YG female group, to be called ‘21′.

But netizens are now becoming concerned as there is already a singer with the name ‘21′, who debuted in the year 2005.

There is a 23-year-old singer by the name of ‘21(To Anyone)’ who debuted with a ballad album on 22nd May with the single album ‘My Soul’s Weight’. The name came from the theory by the American medical studies that a human soul weighed about 21 grams.

Netizens, “There is a singer with the same name. YG don’t know about it?”

YG’s new group ‘21‘ was named that way to represent the fresh music that group will produce, just like the age of 21. Also it has representation of the number 21 in the game of Black Jack.

With members consisting of Sandara Park, Park Bom, CL and Gong Min Ji, the group will debut beginning of May.

‘Lollipop’ placed as #1 on music sites!'

Lollipop, a song sang by 21 (To Anyone), also previously known as ‘Female Big Bang’, and Big Bang was released on March 27th, and right after its release, it was placed #1 selling song on Cyworld and BugsMusic. Also, on Mnet, Melon, and Dosirak (all the sites where you can purchase mp3s), it was placed as #2, #14 and #14 respectively, and still rising.

YG entertainment said ‘because it is a song made for commercials, and not meant for any performances on stage, it is incredible that it has beat SonDamBi and EpikHigh on its day of release’. YG also added that ‘ever since 21 was revealed, there has been many number of interview requests, but they won’t be on public until their debut’.

The image 21 is going for is to be ‘unique’ and ‘different’ like Big Bang. Although they are girls, they want to be seen tough and be confident, and their music style consists of strong rap and lyrics. The producers for 21 include Teddy of 1Tym and G-Dragon.

The TV commercial for Lollipop will be airing starting from April 1st, and the full music video will be released on April 3rd.

21 to 2NE1, YG Copied a Group’s Name?


YG Entertainment explained their side of the story over the 21 shock.

YG Entertainment expressed, "We recently announced that the girl Big Bang group would be called 21, as in to anyone. However, it was found that there was already a male singer that had debuted in 2005 with the name To Anyone. Honestly, we had no idea that someone had already debuted under this name." Yang Hyun Suk clarified that "When 21 appeared on tv, the subtitles even put the name as 2NE1. In their debut album, there is even a song called 2NE1 and this was a decision that was made before all the criticism."

He revealed that "YG's girl group was planning on being introduced as 2NE1 formally before their debut album went on sale, but we ended up announcing it because of this development. Therefore, we hope that there is no misunderstanding about this mishap." On this day, Yang Hyun Suk went into detail saying "2NE1 was supposed to mean 'to anyone'. However, there are other meanings besides that one in that name. Since there is already someone using 21 (to anyone), we will no longer use that meaning."

In reality, 2NE1 was also linked to the meanings "always fresh and willing to take chances like 21-year-olds and a group that will never lose to anyone (like blackjack)".

2NE1's members include Sandara Park who was popular in the Philippines, Park Bom who became known after filming a commercial with Lee Hyori, Gong Minji who is grand daughter of famous dance artiste Gong Ok Jin, and CL who is known for her outstanding talent and also carries the name of leader for the group. The album will officially go on sale early May and Lollipop is already drawing a lot of attention. Lick that lollipop girls!

YG will change ‘female Big Bang’ English name from To Anyone to 2NE1



YG clears up about the matter of ‘female Big Bang‘ group 21 having the same name as another singer.

YG said, “It is such a shame that we didn’t thought of a singer with the same name. Even though we do not have any plans to change their name, we will change the English name of ‘To Anyone (투애니원)’ to 2NE1. “

“Though they have the same name, the meaning to the names are different. Hence we hope that fans will not misunderstand. Please continue to support the group.”

Meanwhile, 4-member group 21 prepares to debut in May.

New group 2ne1's Sandara Park's sexy photo shoot has been revealed.
She is wearing a black corset and scandalous swimming suit in 2006 on Philippines magazine 'Uno'(July~Aug.) Her provocative posing in dark makeup and some of the pictures are in with a whip in one hand. Netizens are saying in the music video, 'Lollipop' with Big Bang, she is all cute and is shocked to see these pics of her. New female 4-member group 2NE1 has explosively attracted netizens.

According to Naver search engine for singers (chart pictured above), from April 3-9, with the exception of one day, 2NE1 has ranked #1 for the week.

Next month, this "Female Big Bang" is set to debut. Their song with Big Bang called "Lollipop" has been sweeping music charts, and also increasing interest in its individual members (as you can see, Sandara Park, Park Bom, and Kong Min Ji are also within the Top 10 - no CL, though D: ).

This week, Sandara Park's provocative magazine pictorial from the Philippines was revealed online as well. She was shown in a black corset and bikini swimsuit, which was a surprise to netizens.

Music Video Marketing in Advertising Industry


It is almost a trend for the singers/celebrities to release a music video for the products they are advertising. It is a win-win situation; celebrities can release digital music easily, and the advertising companies can maximize the ’star/celebrity power’.

Celebrities such as Big Bang, Wonder Girls, Lee Minho are advertising cell phone, beer and more based on ‘freshness’, and are releasing digital mp3 and music videos. Because the competition is fierce between the companies, the models are often the ones who can impact the younger generations more.

For example, in cell phone market, Big Band and Wonder Girls are competing. LG’s Cyon utilized Big Bang and 2NE1’s Lollipop (reigning #1 songs on various music charts), and KTFT Ever has released ‘Now’ (remade from FinKL’s original back in 2000) with Wonder Girls.

The reason why Big Bang has been on high in this advertisement was, because it was an incredible opportunity for YG entertainment to advertise new girl group 2NE1. Although Big Bang is the ‘true’ model for Cyon, YG could advertise 2NE1 to the public prior to their debut. Cyon is winning because they are getting the attention by using number 1 idol, Big Bang, as their model, and also by unveiling 2NE1 before their group; and YG is winning because 2NE1 is getting attention through Cyon.

Top, Sandara and Seungri in a Drama?



It previously came out that Sandara Park will star in a tele-movie project but the actors to act with her are still being determined. Now a new development came out that Top and SeungRi are being considered to play along side Sandara. This will be interesting!

Sandara came out in Gummy's music video together with Top before and we know how the fans reacted. I just hope the fans will be more understanding this time around. They are doing their jobs and nothing more. I'm just happy we'll be seeing more of Sandy and Big Bang in the future! ^^

While DBSK's Jae Joong has filmed Episode 1 "Heaven's Postman (천국의 우편 배달부)" with Han Hyo Joo, Big Bang's T.O.P and Seungri have been purportedly confirmed for Episode 7's "19 Years Old (19세)". Seems like Big Bang 's members are getting busy in 09 - T.O.P has drama "IRIS" co-starring Lee Byung Hun and Seungri has movie "71″ with Kim Bum and "Why Did You Come To My House" with Kang Hye Jung.

Yang Hyun Suk: "Female Big Bang's weapon is refreshing music"


"'The female Big Bang,' unlike Wonder Girls and SNSD, will have refreshing music like Big Bang does."

YG Entertainment's representative, Yang Hyun Seok(39) introduced the "female Big Bang," who will debut around April~May, in a recent interview with YeonHap News.

This group, which some netizens believe is named "Sista," although the name has not been determined yet, consists of Park Bom, Gong MinJI, CL, and Park Sandara.

Representative Yang said, "Rather than competing with Wonder Girls, SNSD, or other female groups, they will probably have diverse music [...] The members have been confirmed: Park Bom, who participated in the AnyCall CF with Lee Hyori and Lee Junki; Gong Minji, neice of Ms. Gong Okjin, a traditional Korean dancer; very skillful CL, who searched for me at YG to give me a demo without prior arrangement; and Philippines star Park Sandara, whom I was debating whether to include in the group."

He then explained, "I thought that Park Sandara would be more fitting as an actress, but I was pleasantly surprised after she recorded with 1TYM's Teddy. If the other members are like meat soup, which has been boiling for a long time, Park Sandara is like the salt [which you spray on top]. Whether she was influenced by the tough natures of her colleagues or not, I even discovered a hiphop disposition in her. As for CL, famous American music label Interscope's president Jimmy Ivan was amazed by her talent when he saw her."

Representative Yang said, "I decided to have them debut once they reach their full potential. Although they have practiced singing and dancing in the practice room together for a long time, I anticipate them to improve as the days pass."

May Doni, “Female Big Bang will not be like any other girl group”



‘Female Se7en‘ May Doni talked a little about upcoming group ‘female Big Bang‘.
She said in an interview recently, “Female Big Bang will have a totally different feel from your normal singer group. Their rap and dance capabilities is incredible. They will not be your normal cute or sexy concept girl group.”
