You shouldn't be thinking that what happened in the past at a given time is what it is to be Japanese. Yeah all that shit happened however since the beginning of time mankind has killed and murdered for any number of reasons. If you study history at all the number of atrocities
goes so far back even before humans could write.

For me as an American I'm ashamed of the way our forefathers wiped out most of the original inhabitants on this land then blamed them
when they retaliated in kind.

You can't blame the sons for the fathers mistakes.

And the again the innocent(Japanese) civilians who knew NOT what was really happening died in ignorance of how unkind the world can be.

Shit happens during any war time regardless of any origin, ethnicity, race, etc. Unfortunately, only the vanquisher gets to write or re-write History. If Germany had won that war, we would probably be communicating in German now instead of English.

Japan's situation was quite different than Germany. After Hitler committed suicide, the Allied forces basically just had roamed thought their land and destroying mostly everything in their path. It probably shattered their pride as the Aryans was supposed to be superior and yet they were getting whooped.

Japan was about to get that same treatment. However, because the Emperor Hirohito had surrender (as if he had a choice, really) to the Allied forces, Japan never went through that shameful experience. Their main island was never invaded even though 2 cities got nuked; they did not had to rebuilt the whole country as Tokyo was not in ruins as Berlin was. In other words, the Japaneses did not felt the pride crushing defeat as bad as the Germans did.

IMHO, if the USA didn't cared about the communist wave emerging in most Asian countries back in 1945, Japan wouldn't be the 2nd economy today and we would not have this discussion about Japanese distorting the facts or downplaying their war crimes.

In any case, the Japanese government can say what they want but doesn't mean that the rest of the Asian countries will believe or accepts their version...

I think all people who enjoy Japanese pop culture and that stuff should know about this
right now in the present, Jpn are pretty awesome, but back then, they were so damn evil. I am surprised so many people dont know about this and get shocked once they find out

It is horrible what the Japanese did. I think they should apologize but I also think that that isn't going to change any hatred people have toward them. If the Japanese apologized today I have a feeling most people would still be angry. I'm not asian so I don't feel the same way as other asians do. But my people were enslaved in America for years and after freedom still to this day they are not treated as equals and even though people have apologized it doesn't take away the past at all. I also don't feel hatred towards the people of today because it's not going to get me anywhere and it is very tiring to just hate somebody who didn't have anything to do with the past. I also think it should really be the Japanese govt people are mad at, not the kids who are going to school being brainwashed, they didn't ask to be brainwashed. I mean I can't imagine being angry right now if I see a 4 year old Japanese kid and wish death on him for something he knows nothing about. But I am just speaking for me, everyone is not going to feel the same way as me. I'm not trying to make anyone mad. Just saying.
Sorry it was kinda long.

nah, it's been 60 to 70 years. most of those war criminals at that time are either dead or burnt in hell or suffering at this point of time. other than that, its not like i care either... japan paid our government $500 million dollars during Magsaysay's administration for war damages. and we forgave them in return. japan had already done us enough... instead, why not just move on with your lives. both of our countries are friends now end of the story!

People are still talking about that stuff as if it were yesterday? Yes, I do not agree about it but I believe that it's time to move on. And just because people involved in the army did those things, every one of us are heartless and cruel? What about the ones who do not agree about what went on and was powerless to stop it (like me but I did not live in those times)? Truly, these threads are ridiculous. If I did research on every other countries war histories (i'm not going to name them) they would be full of sad and cruel acts too. But all of that happened so many years ago. Culture changes and people do as well. Just because something happened over 60 years ago should not have anything to do with the people of today because so much has changed since then.

Other countries (like America) did do some terrible things in the war also, but no one seems to think about that. Like DigimonKingdom said, there were many people who did not agree to what was going on but they could not do anything to stop it. So saying that just because some of the Japanese people did those things means that they all were the same is a little ignorant and rude on your behalf.

yes im aware of the atrocities that the japanese commited but im also aware of the atrocities hitler commited, so why can we just leave the past and look towards a better future yeah?

and remember it was only a small portion of the large majority which supported war like us the japanese didnt wish for war but like all normal citizens in every country we have no say, so think about both sides please.
