Most of the huge record companies are actually based in the US. Also, big-shot producers like L.A. Reid is in America. That said, it is no wonder why most artists would want to go there. The market is undeniably huge and going international would attract more audiences.

I would say lower sales. They'd have a better chance there, but success on their charts probably wouldn't cover the cost of the flight from Korea to Canada.

I was just jokin ofcourse. But they could become sucessful in Canada then make their way down south, we both have the same accent n same taste in music.

Has it ever crossed your mind WHY they want to debut in the US? I mean they're already famous in their own country. Is it to be more famous? Or is it because they want to be challenged?

I mean let's have BoA... she's famous in Japan and Korea. Now she's going for US. Some of you might not like the way they make her voice electry right? And she's taking such a big step now. It really depend you know... the music is just not the old BoA we knew. And what if she stays in America? No more Asian songs?

Bigger fan base. If someone debuts in the U.S they're more likely to be recognized world wide. World Wide Fame= Tons of money. Duh.

Getting a hit in Canada would create some buzz.....Only problem with that is success in Canada doesn't guarantee success in America. I believe Canadians are more open and it's easier to get your single on the radio up there. American radio is damn near a monopoly.

Bam. Beat me to it. D:
America is seen as on top of the music/fashion world. Plus -most- Asians are obsessed with Westerners. What better way to be seen as cool than to be famous in the Western World?

And I don't like BOA btw. Just had to get that off my chest.

Not only Asians, but many Canadian and UK singers
always try to debut in U.S.
perhaps to expand their music and be known.
and the U.S. market is huge.

Fame and $$$

And since Interscope has some interest on 2NE1, plus Perez Hilton posted Fire and IDC in his massively frequented website...
They can make it big?
