Sounds like a versus thread. Anyway, I think it depends on the person's preference. I, however, prefer reading the manga if the anime drags on for too long.

for some reason i usually start with the anime... and if im interested, ill start reading the manga... although some animes are very different to the manga or arent very good, like Gakuen Alice, I dont really want to read it now, because the anime bored me...
Manga is much better though
