I like both anime, but Gintama has never let me down, it has been awesome throughout the whole series.
Whereas, Bleach is good too but fillers and some cliched bits sometimes ruin it. Gonna go with Gintama, try watching it everyone |

Gintama! You can't beat its flexible theme that has no limits. It can parody anything and it can be about anything. Samurai, Robots, Tanks, Gundams, Aliens, Will Smith, Obama, or Ghost. No problem! Gintama did those and have those. It can be really funny. It can be really sad and it can be really action packed.

I find it difficult to compare the two atm simply because they have two very different storylines. Personally, both distinct stories make them who they are! That and I love both of them equally (:

Wow reading through the comments so many people who chose Bleach haven't even seen Gintama before
As someone who has watched both I'd say that Bleach used to be good. The SS arc was probably what made most readers avid fans, with a seemingly simple yet intriguing plot and many major twists at the end. Characters were introduced well and developed to some extent. However, Bleach has been on a steady decline ever since the SS arc (yeah that's one hell of a decline). Major flaws now are plot holes and poor character development. Also, the fights that used to be good are becoming boring, due to a consistent "good guys NEVER die" theme. The story has been lackluster due to these problems. In short, Bleach has lost its original appeal. Hopefully, Kubo picks up on his game and finishes Bleach with a last arc that is just as great as the SS arc As for Gintama, I don't think it should even be compared in the first place as it is more of a comedy/slice of life anime than an action/plot centered anime like Bleach. There is an existing 'main' plot, and while it has potential to be a good arc, it moves at snail's pace, with only tiny arcs/scenes now and then to inch it forward. However, I personally feel that Sorachi is a better story teller than Kubo, as the one shots (that Gintama is mostly made up of) range from hilarious comedies to tear jerkers or great moral lessons. There are fewer characters than Bleach, but each and everyone is developed very thoroughly, and don't get 'forgotten' as they show up regularly. For the occasional serious arcs, the plot and action do not lose to any other shonen manga. However, Gintama may not appeal to everyone, as people who don't get the japanese culture/otaku centric humor or prefer plot centered stories will not enjoy it. My only problem with Gintama is that some chapters can be very good while others not so, however, majority of them do not dissapoint I chose Gintama, but as a fan of both I feel that both stories are great, and even though Bleach has been on a decline I really hope that Kubo can 'revive' it again. Since the 2 senseis are friends, maybe Sorachi can give Kubo writing lessons while Kubo can teach Sorachi how to improve his drawing. |
