So Ji Sub, Han Ji Min Attend ‘Cain and Abel’ Press Conference | 2009.02.13

Regarded as the most anticipated TV drama in the first half of 2009 by many, SBS “Cain and Abel” finally held its production press conference today (13th) around 2pm at Chung Cheong Buk Do, Cheong Ju Airport, one week before its broadcast. The main cast, which includes So Ji Sub, Han Ji Min, Shin Hyun Joon, Chae Jung Ahn and Yoo Joo Hee attended the press meeting, which was also telecast live through the internet.

For So Ji Sub, this is his much-awaited returning drama project ever since “Sorry I Love You” in 2004 and for Han Ji Min, MBC “Yi San” was her last drama before this. Han Ji Min looks pretty and especially cute with her little, rather revealing dress but from some pictures, she does seem pretty uncomfortable, consciously or sub-consciously trying to cover up a little. Chae Jung Ahn seems a little “chubbier” from last time.

Apart from the media and Korean fans, there were also around 20 over fans from Japan who attended the conference and they are likely promote the drama’s filming locations to other Japanese tourists, bringing more vibrancy to the tourism industry of Chung Cheong Buk Do.

SBS “Cain and Abel” is a 7.5 billion won project that includes cast such as So Ji Sub, Han Ji Min, Shin Hyun Joon, Chae Jung Ahn, Kim Hae Sook, Yoo Joo Hee etc. Director Kim Hyung Shik from “Surgeon Bong Dal Hee” is the director for this drama. This 20-episode drama will begin broadcast on the 18th February, making itself a competitor to MBC “The Return of Iljimae” and KBS “Hateful But Once Again”.

Han Ji Min Begins Volunteering Activities | 2009.02.23

Han Ji Min, who is currently portraying the role of a North Korean refugee Oh Young Ji, in SBS “Cain and Abel”, recently began another round of volunteering activities.

On the 17th last Tuesday, Han Ji Min attended an event titled “North Korean Refugee Health checkup with Han Ji Min” at Seoul Non Hyun Dong, Vievis Namuh hospital, where 25 North Koreans who escaped to the south received free health checkups. Despite her hectic schedule, Han Ji Min still managed to set herself free on the day morning and reached the venue at 9am. For the next 3 hours, Han Ji Min watched and encouraged those who were receiving checkups.

Han Ji Min said: “Some time back, I learned North Korean provincial accent in order to play my role well. I came to understand that due to poverty, many were unable to receive basic health checkups. Just when I was troubled about this, I was able to get the support from Namuh hospital.”

For her role in “Cain and Abel“, Han Ji Min started learning North Korean provincial language and Mandarin beginning November last year. During the process, she acquainted many North Korean refugees and was terribly upset by their difficult situation and poor living conditions.

Han Ji Min has always been active in many charity and volunteering events. In her latest drama, she plays the North Korean refugee Oh Young Ji, who will begin her new life in South Korea and also start a new love relationship with So Ji Sub.

Han Ji Min and Lee Jun Ki Cast In “Hero” | 2009.08.14

Ooooh.

Actors Han Ji Min and Lee Jun Ki have been cast as the leads of the upcoming MBC drama Hero. Lee Jun Ki has been cast as Jin Do-hyuk, a reporter who always interferes in other people’s problems and ends up causing accidents. Han Ji Min, on the other hand, plays Ju Jae-in, another reporter, a passionate and talented woman with her own journalism style and a strong sense of responsibility.

Hero is currently in the process of final casting for its supporting characters, and is set to air this fall on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Filming is slated to begin in September.

Not a bad-looking couple at all, huh? Plus, they’re both good actors. I don’t know who the PD and writer are (and a brief search didn’t bring up any info…), but these two are enough to get me on board, at least for the first episode. Why do I get the feeling the second half of 2009 in Yeouido will be better than the (rather abysmal) first half?

Lee Jun-ki and Han Ji-min for ‘Strange Heroes’ | 2009.08.14

Lee Jun-ki and Han Ji-min have been cast as the main roles for the upcoming SBS drama, ‘Strange Heroes’.

‘Strange Heroes’ will be about a genius that has lived his life only striving for success until the death of his loved one, brings him to realize his mistakes and feel anger towards the absurd society. He then becomes a modern life hero as he begins to fight for the weak.

Lee Jun-ki will play the the role of the male lead, who works as a journalist for a small third rate newspaper and gets caught up in a case that involves people with money and power. Han Ji-min will play the role of the female lead who moves to the small third rate newspaper Lee Jun-ki works for, after having worked as a journalist for one of the top newspapers. She later gets caught up in the same case Lee Jun-ki gets involved in and obviously, the two are going to end up following in love while working on the cast.

Doesn’t seem like the story line of the drama is particularly new or exciting but hopefully Lee Jun-ki and Han Ji-min will be able to make up for the story line with their acting. ‘Strange Heroes’ is set to broadcast in November after the last episode of ‘Heading to the Ground’ starring Yun-ho.
