I still think the first series is much better, but I still enjoy watching Brotherhood. I hate the music though. I'm just trying to take it as something different instead of a copy of the first. There are a lot of scenes from the manga though, although there are things that aren't in either the manga or anime. It's still fullmetal though and still as awesome as anything.

i think the series is going a bit too fast
but then again, i want it to go to the point where the anime and manga part their ways
I feel like the manga has a better storyline than the anime!
But I don't understand...
I used to watch the series on FUNIMATION.com but somehow it's gone
was it canceled all of a sudden?

Wished they had re-used the soundtrack from the previous series. I hear some songs I recognize, but so far I'm not all that impressed.

I expect the two anime to be largely the same in basic plot up until Greed captures Alphonse the first time. That's when the anime completely abandoned the manga for it's own storyline. However, filler and the new storyline that anime was going to take had already been set in motion with the new Wrath and the creation of Dante a few episodes prior. This all started happening around episode 25.

Glad the filler was cut out of the second adaptation, but I liked how the Lior incident was handled in the first one better.

So far, I feel the second's art direction and style remains true, but I think the first series displayed a warmer and more aesthetically pleasing pallet.

i prefer this anime to the first just because i know its more true to the manga and it looks drawn similar to the manga. i dont get why people were expecting this one to keep most of the same knowledge they have about the first one knowing it would be manga based. i cant wait til dublith eps thats when al discovers something he never did in the first anime.

Having seen the first anime series, not read the manga, but being aware of the general story differences... I have high hopes for what this new series will become as it gets into latter episodes.

What I have been wondering is if they have only been skipping filler that was added to the anime, or have they been skipping full sections of the manga as well. I'm sure they are making cuts to condense the parts of the story that overlapped in the first anime and the manga, but I'm wondering if entire story lines and characters are being pulled.

The most important thing to watch for in the new series will be how (and if) the pace chances once the story really breaks away from the first anime. If they keep this break neck speed they are going to run out of published material again. If they slow down too much it might feel really jarring.

Maybe someday, years after both series are complete, they will re-edit the beginning of the first series (leaving out some weaker parts) and make it match up at the spot where this new series it really going to be taking off.

so far the only manga thing they've skipped, that i noticed, is the youswell coalmine chapter. it was the one that introduces yoki.

i havnt read the manga so i dont know about that bit but i definatly agree the the music is no way near up to par with the first series which was excelent. you have reminded me how much i enjoyed the first series so i have now decided to watch it again however i think this might be confusing as i am also watching FMA brotherhood at the same time. Oh well

So, no one here is disappointed over the show not picking up from the end of the movie?

For me it was kind-of strange watching al getting his body back and fighting together with eric at the end, going for destroying the gate and thne suddenly al's back in his armor in the other world and it's as if nothing's happened :S

dont compare this one with the first one or movie. its a completely different story. just throw out all previous knowledge you may have from the first anime cuz it'll do no good this time.
