-Plot :
"Jeon Woo-chi" begins in the Chosun Dynasty in 1509 and involves a trio of Taoist wizards, a magician named Jeon Woo Chi (Dong-won Kang) and his dog, a corrupt king, evil goblins, and a prophetic pipe everyone is after. Eventually Jeon Woo Chi becomes sealed inside an ancient scroll for a crime he did not commit.

Jumping ahead to the year 2009, the wizards are called out of peaceful retirement as goblins start appearing in modern Korea to wreak havoc all around. The trio call on Jeon Woo Chi, who is released from his ancient scroll entrapment, in to save the day. Problem is Jeon Woo Chi, a kind of anti-superhero, becomes more interested in sight-seeing and womanizing in modern day Korea.

Kang Dongwon had lots of physical suffering and losing his weights for 5 kgs during 8 months from action trainings and Joen Woo Chi filmings...

Kang Dongwon and Im Soojung stars of the movie 'jeonwoochi' (Directed by Choi Dong Hun) were filming the last part in Philippines on May 18, 2009.

The super project movie which cost 100 billion won has been in the production stage for 8 months which started filming in September last year. They have carried out filming earlier in several places in Korea namely Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Cheorwon, Jeonju and Iksan.

There were also car chase scene, wire action scene were done in Gangnam, Myeong-dong, Insa-dong. However they have experienced a hard time with the traffic control and it even make it difficult to shoot as the crowd gathered in downtown of Seoul during the film shot.

Most of the main actors who have been shooting for the action scene have suffered physically. It is also said that Kang Dong Won has lost weight of 5kg due to the wire action scene/training.


JWC is scheduled to be screened in Winter 2009.. A movie not only received a warm welcome from demestic market, but from the Int'l markets as well..

Foreign interest heats up for hero movie Jeon Woo Chi


Looks like buzz for the upcoming fantasy-action movie Jeon Woo Chi — starring Kang Dong-won and Im Soo-jung — is heating up. The film has just sold to nine overseas markets even before it makes its Korean premiere later this winter.

According to CJ Entertainment, Jeon Woo Chi screened a five-minute promo video at the American Film Market (”the largest motion picture trade show in the world”) on November 4. Following that, the film was sold to four European nations and five Asian and Southeast Asian countries. (Among the buyers: Germany, the Netherlands, China.) The film market is still open for another three days, however, so the number may go up. (Catch the trailer below; it looks like a hella fun ride.)

A source from United Pictures and M Line Distribution, which is in charge of overseas sales for Jeon Woo Chi, explained that buyers came calling from the first day, having heard about the hot interest in the promo video of the “Korean-style hero movie,” which takes the subject of Taoist magic and blends it with a modern sensibility. The film premieres in Korea on December 23.

Kang Dong-won stars as Jeon Woo Chi, a Taoist wizard from the Joseon age who is locked in a magic scroll. When the seal is broken 500 years later, Jeon Woo Chi is transported to current times and fights the monsters that plague modern society.

Despite the misspelling, the new movie “Jeon Woo-chi” (전우치 2009), Kang Dong-won plays a wizard (Jeon Woo-chi) from the Chosun Dynasty in 1509 who was made a scapegoat and eventually sealed inside an ancient scroll. Centuries later in 2009, goblins started to appear and create mayhem in Korea therefore the wizards have to ‘un-retire’ and save the world. Three Taoist wizards decided to released Jeon Woo-chi from the scroll in order to use his help.

Unfortunately, having been trapped for so long, Jeon is more interested in exploring modern Korea and flirting with women. Will he help save the day? Well, you’ll find out when the film is released on December 23rd.
