Please mention all that you can recall...I'll be much appreciated for that.

Also, this question is retarded, what the fuck is "goth" anyway? I recall it being an African tribe but who the fuck knows what American culture twisted it into.

Mods went to Wikipedia......~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think it means something like- Vampire-ly, Spooky things, Halloween-ly ... I think...
It is only I think, So dont show off

If you seriously think Goth means "Vampire-ly, Spooky things, Halloween-ly", you seriously need to re-educate yourself. Don't show off.

"goth" is a word that doesn't really have a definition. Jay was reffering to the Visigoth barbarians. Gothic was also an art/architecture style from the middle ages (think cathedrals).

It was used again towards the end of the 18th century to describe a type of fiction that was a blend of (typically) horror, romance, and tragedy. "Wuthering Heights" is probably one of the best known examples. Dracula and Frankenstein (the original novels, not the Universal movies) are also often considered Gothic fiction.

Somehow, this terminology was attached to the post-punk scene of the early to mid 80s with bands like Bauhaus and Joy Division (and a slew of others I'll forgo mentioning). They were known for wearing black, writing sad songs, dark imagery, etc. The original emo if you will (except the music was 1000 times better, and everything was original unlike the piece of shit scene today). Probably for just the reason you said - the "dark and spooky" vibe attached to it. What makes it awkward to define "goth" is that no one who is considered goth will actually call themselves goth. Because if you do, you are obviously a poser. So there never really was a good solid definition for the subculture developed. You couldn't be goth, but you could be goth-like.

Slowly, the scene became more popular. Industrial and shock rock started using gothic imagery (marilyn manson, NIN, etc.), so you had a new breed of goth show up in the early 90s. It had transfered from a strange quirky subculture to full blown main stream success. And thanks to Hot Topic, becoming "goth" became as easy as picking up milk at the grocery store.

Honestly, as long as you're referring to the subsequent pop culture created, your definition is just as good as any.

check out Vampire Hunter D, Hellsing, Rozen Maiden, and Witch Hunter Robin.

Blood Trinity has interesting artwork, but other than that the anime is a festering piece of shit best avoided. It's like someone decided to combine Castlevania and Trigun.
