well i think she made the right choice, its not like her parents died or anything, she'll see them again in five years

for the time remaining she should study hard and she'll meet them when she's 18

she's a filipina....my parents think that someone encouraged her to stay in japan......

Why not? it's not like she can't contact het family anymore and she is staying with her aunt, isn't that family as well?

She's actually living with her aunt (a Filipino) and her Japanese husband. Immigration laws in Japan are really strict they do not provide amnesty even for humanitarian considerations.

it's funny how the news title could be interpreted in a very different manner.. that girl was not responsible for her parents' deportation. they were illegal immigrants. that's the reason why they were deported. as for the girl's stay in japan, it was allowed mainly for humanitarian reasons. she was born and raised there. she speaks only the japanese language..

i don't see anything selfish on the part of the parents nor any intention on the daughter to want them to disappear.. i'm sure it was a difficult decision for everyone in their family..

on another note,if there's anyone to blame for the situation, it should be the parents for not legalizing their stay in japan.

She chose to have an education over a life of poverty...... gee that's a hard choice. It's not like she isn't ever going to talk with her parents again...

or even vaule them...

yeah too right! those selfish parents! they should just fucking die!......what makes this story a bit different from the norm is that she was given the choice not them and that her parents cannot return to japan within 5 years so she is basically telling them to dissappear

what are you talking about? In the article it says that she has a choice between japan and Philippines, her parents want her to stay in japan and she wants to stay in japan. If she went to the Philippines she has to live on a farm and probably work, if she stays in japan she gets education. Do you not understand? Any parent would do that for their child.

i understand everything and and understand nothing
i suspect everyone and i suspect no one....

haha spamming my own thread is fun

i dont think i can ever blame her for choosing to stay. it's very understandable.

Wait..what's the big deal? If I was that girl I'd stay in Japan too. For instance she doesn't speak tagalog at all, secondly she seems to have a better future in Japan than in the Philippines. And if she'd suddenly found out that she'd rather stay with her parents she could join them any time. Unless there's another law prohibiting this, either way..the article wasn't too elaborated so I'd need to check out on further causalities.
