when he gets the Geass, I think most ppl would have accepted after witnessing that massacre, all those ppl killed right in front of him and also him knowing who he really was - an exiled prince, the real threat to the Crown.
when he gets his memory back, and we get to see what really happened after his showdown with Suzaku at the end of the 1st season, and how everything was taken away from him.
when he sacrifices himself at the end, like he was thinking something along these lines: let me be the worst of them all, let no one be worse than me. Let them hate me and only me. Let everything end with my death. And then may peace come.
that's how it looked to me at least.

when Euphy died sad. vey sad. he actually didn't mean to do that. but - honestly now she wasn't fit to rule. I thought she had such childish and utopic ideas.
when he was shot at the end of 1st season. I was like "what? no no no muri muri muri. what happens next..... pls don't die.
when Shirley and Rolo died. sad characters. In the end they both died for a Lelouch that existed only in their minds.
when Nunally met with Zero on that plane thing and then he realised that the world he was trying to create for her was in vain.
and last but not least at the end when "Zero" shot Lelouch. For a second... just a second I thought: No. He died.
