after the first dozen episodes this anime becomes never ending repeating junk! for a mastermind tactician he seems to be pretty useless at defeating his main rivals and episode after episode of him repeatedly letting his biggest obstacles get away got really boring and then annoying long before this anime ended. as intriguing as the power he's been given was to begin with the use of it in the anime became infantile and completely contrary to the characters original portrayal.

so in other words if all you want of this anime is the same people fighting each other over and over while countless (star trek red shirts) get blown up in their mechas with a poorly developed story line then I'm sure this will be a hit just don't expect the main character to be the genius or ruthless person the anime tried to portray him as in the opening episodes.

HUH??? How unusual..this anime is great I never thought someone would think that why...

because I didn't close my eyes and jump on the band wagon after watching this anime through I realized just how lame the plot was developed and implemented.

for a tactician chess master our hero seems incapable of beating the one person he absolutely should have and always seems to drop right into the most pathetic corners of his own making. also for a person who has no qualms getting an entire squad to blow they're brains out he sure gets squeamish about using his powers to actually defeat his enemies.

no matter how you try and excuse this anime's short comings it will still rank a huge FAIL on character and plot continuity its about as lame as the GI Joe comics with every exploding plane popping a parachute out of the smoke & wreckage.

Omg omg omg! You seriously got it up here!?
*climbs a mountain to shout with joy*

The show was so impressive watching it the first time through. I never got around to watching the second season though. But I needed to rewatch the first anyway, so now I can do that while supporting the creators

Such excitement.

I am of the rare breed that has no preference between subbed or dubbed versions. English is my native language, but I've also grown completely accustomed to Japanese (and even have gained enough vocabulary to watch without subs and still understand discussions). The things I like about dubbed versions is mostly the chance to enjoy the artwork more, since there's no subs to glance down to. Subtitled versions are also good, for the fact that they are the original works. I won't list out all the reasons I enjoy both though, as that's unnecessary. Voice acting is important though, and due to environment differences, there are indeed a lot of English VAs that don't quite know how to handle their characters well. But of course, there's also some Japanese VAs that don't do the best job possible either.

One thing that I can say though is what I don't like. At the top of the list is censorship. Censorship I consider to be destructive of art, which is quite a lowly thing to do. A lot of things get censored when brought into America because of a few fools running things. If censorship is present in any form, it is certainly disqualified from being a preferred version.

The other element in this area is culture adaptation. There are certainly some differences in culture that must get addressed in the script, but there are some places where it as well is damaging (pokemon: onigiri = jelly filled doughnut?). Going off in an odd direction, I must say that I honestly feel anime and video games are playing a role in leading the world to unity in the way that it is dreamed of. Understanding is important in getting along well, and this kind of media presents foreign culture in interesting ways that progressively lead to understanding. As the years pass, adjusting culture in these media should be less and less necessary.

Awesome. I didn't think I would see Code Geass on Crunchy Roll.

It's too bad it's not in 720p though.
