He did die of exhaustionall because of the mangekyou saping all his strangth and the pain that he was experiencing from it. Spoiler Alert! (The Akatsuki and Kakashi) i mean why did he have to die? he was kind.. he killed hi family because it was a mission from the elders.. if sasuke only knew (i really hate sasuke) he gave naruto his power (half if I'm not mistaken) and sasuke the mangekyou and amaterasu.. why did he have to die??? i wish it was sasuke who died i love itachi so much xD.. huhu : why did he have to die :(

Also when Itachi killed his clan the reason i knew it wasn't to test his strength was because he spared his brother, truthfully if he was testing his strength against his clan he would not have spared anyone. Also Sasuke didn't kill him he croaked due to exhaustion in fact Sasuke lost that fight, Sasuke can never seem to win any fight unless it's against weaker opponites, sick opponites, worn out opponites, or suicidal opponites. the only fight he did win was in the chunnin exam against the chakra leeching ninja. Sasuke is to weak to win against someone like Naruto on equal footing, also the fight between Naruto and Sasuke at the valley of end Sasuke won only because Naruto didn't want to kill Sasuke, if he did he would have easily beat him with out any effort. I guess this turned into a Sasuke Bashing tell as ussual with some of my tells. Sasuke is by far my most hated character.

I always knew that something was up and that he wasn't truly a "bad guy," and I was glad to realize that I was right. I just can't wait for the animation to catch up with the manga!!! Oh well, I hope it’s worth waiting 2 years for.

Sasuke summoning Manda and flying into him to escape Deidara's suicide blast, that was Sasuke's only option for survival and there's nothing wrong with wanting to live. Deidara's suicide blast was his last hope of killing sasuke. There is no way that deidara had a chance of killing Sasuke in that match
