Companies have been stealing from their customers with outrages prices for a long time.

Piracy is just a method to get them back and hopefully wake them up. (the waking up part doesn't seem to be working)

There are few to no sites that allow you to download movies at high quality with removing the shit middle man prices (sites that actually give the money back to the companies that made it), and the costs just for packaging and shipping increase when they push it to places like Australia. the cost of imported goods here are ridiculous.

A system like Steam where you can get the exact same game from EB and is less then half price for countries that pay excessive charges that are laid on top is terrific. In fact I get all my games from Steam now and don't pirate games.
Movies need to move in this direction. Music is getting there which is great.

Until companies wake up and move into the future so people don't have to pay a shit load for nothing then I will continue to promote pirating.

By law, yes.
In practice? HELL NO.

The person up top said it better than me. Record Companies are used to cranking prices up on everything and fleecing the hell out of the public. Why not get them back and make them give a shit about their products and their customers?

i see no problem with it as long as you own the set materials that you are downloading in the 1st place

I don't have a problem with downloading things like that, but I only do so if I can't find them anywhere, or if the price is ridiculously high. This is mostly for games, as I like to buy music and DVDs ect. Also, occasionally, I download some readily-available games, and try them before I buy them. If I like the game, I'll definetly buy it. (Though, if it's a fail, I won't, of course. )

But yeah... it's illegal, but no one cares.

It depends on your moral standing on the entire process.
Also if you have previously owned it before because face it, don't you hate buying something, say PC games, and the disc gets scratched for some unknown reason and you don't want to pay another $50 for it because you have the CD key and everything already purchased.
Anyway, my standing on it? I don't give a shit really.

Isn't it just typically file-sharing then?

One of my friend downloads legally from iTunes but then there are these options on legitimate(?) stuff like MSN and stuff or even on mobile phones that allow you to share your files...

Or am I talking about another thing? This isn't a subject I'm really familiar with...

Yes it is, please stop, I want LAN in my games.

I don't get the big deal about this kind of stuff anyway, so what if people download things is it gonna take away money from filthy rich people, what a tragedy.

I think it's fine.

Certain companies are practically screaming at the top of their lungs for people to pirate their products.

Adobe for example. Photoshop CS5, by itself, for a PERSONAL license? 699USD. Once companies start understanding that they can't make consumers pay whatever they want for a product, and start issuing more tolerable prices, then I think we will be getting somewhere.

Increasing the cost to the public to offset the cost isn't going to work either. You're just going to drive more people to pirate/steal it than before.

The rulings were either overturned or never reinforced.

Pirate Bay continued their ways as always.

Sure it's wrong. But there's a difference between being the downloader who finds it on the internet and loads to download and the person who provided for the people to download. If they're planning to arrest/ or fine someone, blame the provider.

nahhh no one cares...unless it's something like anime because they make crap for money. Then again...if you pay crunchyroll you pay them so go crazy lol

1. If it's something made by an indie developer, don't pirate it. That's cheap.

2. Any other things from big/famous/etc companies? TORRENT FTW
