Well,in my opinion, every person should live according to their own speed. It's both hurtful and damaging to the mind if we had to rush in order to keep up with another person's speed.Forcing yourself to do something isn't ever going to bear fruit. So,my conclusion is that if you can't possibly keep up with someone's speed, then don't bother to keep struggling. One of Takaki's faults at the first was that he refused to accept that fact.If he did,he wouldn't have to waste so many years of his life yearning for something he can't have.

There is no true answer that we can find. We will always live in regret or happiness, remorse or sorrow... Til we can find it in our hearts to love and be loved we will always move too fast or too slow for another feeling the same. I wish I could go back and fixed what I did wrong but as I get older i get wiser to the fact that I had only one chance in this life of mine and I screwed myself out of whatever it could have been. This tagline is a true reflection of what our dreams or wishes of certian events in our lives we can now only reminisce about and think the only question we can never escape... "What if I?..."

i think the title is very symbolic. it duznt have to be taken literally. it describes how people can get separated as time passes. it would take miracles for them to see each other again.....
but yet again, after reading the line, i need to cry some more...*tears*

Can't fully understand this position. What if that someone, who lives "faster" than you is you true "second half"? Why don't you at least try to be with him/her and to catch up with his/her speed? I think that in that case even living only pursuing your dream won't be in vaste.

If our lives could be repeated, I would be at your side every time
I would want nothing else
Besides you, nothing else matters

Thinking that way, I utderstand how Takaki felt and thought.

And what about speed of 5 centimeter per second... If my memory serves me well, in his interview for DVD-release Shinkai-sensei said that this is speed with which distance between their hearts is growing.

5 cm/second...i have a feeling akari was travelling at a faster speed than takaki, because it seemed like takaki was living a lazier, slightly poorer life than akaki...

it does seem true that akari is traveling faster then takaki but is akari was there with takaki maybe he wouldn't be lazier
