Lol, that doesn't surprise me at all. Asian nations are terribly racist. Funnily they're literally obsessed with pale skin and other typical caucasian features.

It's a feature not based on western appearance. Most regions traditionally regard light skin for aesthetics because fairer skin is related to less physical labor and exposure to the sun. Laborers will tend to be darker since they will farm, fish, etc. Upper-class will be indoors. You guys have to know the real reasons for certain behavior before you comment on it or it leads to more ignorance to the topic.

Anyway, it can be racism or a political action. Regardless, either reason is up to the opinions of the individual. It's been universally regarded that racism is an attitude that is neither moral nor immoral. It is a behavior that is up to the moral foundation for each person. Also, it's been a fairly well-known fact that Japan is a very homogeneous nation. Most states in the US prohibit gay marriage. So, I guess the US is prejudice as well. Everyone has some ideology that isn't shared by others. I think it's more important to actually believe in your own set of values and to do you homework on it as well. Most people set their "do's" and "dont's" according to television, peer-pressure, etc.

Oh, surprise, like I didn't know about this at all. /sarcasm
For all I care, there was nothing flawed about my post. Since those features are typical for caucasians regardless of the preferred features' cultural origins.

Anyway I daresay that back in the days it wasn't just about aesthetics, it was mainly a symbol of wealth and wealth doesn't automatically equal aesthetically more attractive.

Contrarily to today, where it's mainly regarded as aesthetically more attractive. De facto, it's been shifted to a different level.

I'll try to throw my two cents in this issue, it's really not a compulsory program but you are given a choice to take advantage of the offer and then try your luck back in your home country instead of being left with no job. You have to understand that living in Japan is very expensive.
Also a lot of the people they are talking to are a group with Japanese ascendants who migrated to Brazil then had a good life and even had college degrees but chose to take menial jobs in Japan because it gives them a higher salary. So they are not exactly without professional skills that will make it hard for them to re-adapt to their previous culture prior to Japan.

I supposed since their group is the largest in Japan, they are being eased out so that the jobless Japanese could have an option to temporarily work in menial jobs that are right now saturated with immigrants.

I hope you're Asian (especially East Asian) to back that statement. Nearly every East Asian I know (that lives in Asia) prefers being fair skinned because of an upper-class, innocent, distinguished look. If you get a big tan; people sometimes joke around about how poor, dirty, and dark you one looks (especially when looking at a photo). I know for a fact that Koreans don't want to look like Caucasians nor are attracted to them in particular. The major physical envy they have is over the eyes because bigger eyes is seen as to having a more innocent, kind, and young look. There's actually a feature that is universal for facial beauty. A ratio of the facial bone structure, eyes, nose, mouth, etc. Facial symmetry is also a key factor. Many people considered beautiful in most cultures share much of this universal facial composition. (I edited some rude comments I wrote since I don't want to be arguing back to your obviously defensive response.)

Anyway, back on topic. I don't agree with Japan's attitude towards foreigners but I think they have the right to their own ideology and way of life.

This is so wrong looked if it is looked in a western perspective, since most western cultures are very open with foreigners.

But it is true, most Asian cultures are xenophobic (not necessarily racist), and they tend not to trust anyone if they aren't part of their culture.

Besides, what's their obsession with white skin, almond shaped eyes and defined cheek bones? Is not a big deal! Is not my fault they have such an inferiority complex, and because of that, they exclude everyone who do not like them, even if they are all "white, with almond eyes and defined cheek bones". After all, most Brazilian (most are Portuguese/Italian descendants) and some Peruvian (if they're from Spaniard origin) people are white with perfect face symmetry, so is not a racial thing 100%, but more of a xenophobic thing.

Imo this has nothing or very little to do with racism.. Take some classes and learn some basics about the basic flow of the world/global economy
