Dear GundamGirl
I understand your fustration but I think the one you should be really blaming this is your own country. Luckily there are a lot of proxies around the web that don't really matter where you are, you can still watch them, not saying you should do that, but there is always a way.
oh and thanks shinji for this awesome update ^.^

There is no party in my country that holds the rights to this material! In my country downloading is legal even when the source is not... so whats the problem??? I still cant view it!

What should I blame on my country?

Since you are not in the same situation as us, you dont even have the right to say that. Have a nice day

The more responses we generate, the more likely someone might actually do something about this.

Atleast start with warning people outside the USA that not all material is usable to them. Or atleast give them choices for a cheaper subscription plan!

Quote from wiki.

Licensing

While Anime has been licensed by its Japanese owners for use outside of Japan since at least the 1960s, the practice became well-established in the United States in the late 1970s/early 1980s, when such TV series as Gatchaman and Captain Harlock were licensed from their Japanese parent companies for distribution in the US market, often with fairly dramatic changes to the original concepts and storylines. The trend towards American distribution of anime continued into the 1980s with the licensing of titles such as Voltron and the 'creation' of new series such as Robotech through use of source material from several original series.

In the early 1990s, several companies began to experiment with licensing less children-oriented material. Some, such as A.D. Vision, and Central Park Media and its imprints, achieved fairly substantial commercial success and went on to become major players in the now very lucrative American anime market. Others, such as AnimEigo, achieved more limited success. Many companies created directly by Japanese parent companies did not do as well, most releasing only one or two titles before folding their American operations.

Licensors

Because anime is produced mainly by Japanese companies, it has to be licensed in other areas of the world by companies in order to be legally released. Licenses are extremely expensive and it is not uncommon to find that companies are paying at rates of up to $20,000 an episode to license a series for release. Here are some major licensing companies for their respective regions.

[edit] Region 1 (United States & Canada)

* 4Kids Entertainment
* ADV Films
* AN Entertainment
* Animeigo
* Bandai Entertainment
* Central Park Media (US Manga Corps)
* Columbia Tristar
* Del Rey Manga
* FUNimation Entertainment
* Geneon (Now distributed through FUNimation)
* ImaginAsian
* Manga Entertainment
* Media Blasters (Anime Works)
* The Right Stuf
* Sony Pictures Entertainment
* Synch-Point
* TOKYOPOP
* Urban Vision
* Viz Media
* Walt Disney Pictures

[edit] Region 2 (Europe)

* Animax
* ADV Films
* Beez
* MVM Entertainment
* Manga Entertainment
* Optimum Releasing

[edit] Region 3 (Asia)

* Animax
* Hero TV (Subsidiary of ABS-CBN)
* Odex

[edit] Region 4 (Australia, Mexico)

* Madman Entertainment

[edit] Other regions (South America, Africa, etc.)

* Animax

Although this is just an example of how licensing works with big companies. It might be similar with crunchyroll.
Please correct me if I am wrong. Also Shinji is looking into the matter and he does what he cans, it is not a matter of point out and click and it is done.

Hey guys~

I noticed some comments on the latest ToeiAnimation videos that a few people weren't able to watch stuff like Slam Dunk and Digimon Adventure 02 even though they live in the US or Canada. The problem should be fixed now! =D

For those of you who aren't in the USA or Canada, sorry it's still not available to you guys =*( As you may or may not know, licensing is realllly really complicated and it's a bit difficult to get permission to show certain videos in certain countries. It's no ones fault, it just takes time to sort out...I'll try to get more stuff for you, I promise! And I'll also try to make these availability notes more clear in the future! :blush:

It is a big process that you must go trough. I am not trying to offend anybody because just like you and I, we have something in common and we love anime. Therefore there is still time to use a proxy.

I thought we had a difference of opinion... but it seems you have no opinion.

The region restriction suck and and that's that! We are not placing the blame here... we just think this site is USA oriented.

Becouse I still don't understand: why I can watch Naruto, Shangri-La and Skip Beat, but not Ristorante Paradiso, Natsu no Arashi, Chi's Sweet Home, and can't see that coming until I try to view the video!

Every show has it is own copy rights. Therefore Shinji has made major improvement with big shows such as "naruto, skip, etc"
There will be problems of course with older or newer shows as every show despite if it is from the same company, the copy rights might not apply in some countries. Being that the case it lead you guys to have a message saying "video not avaliable in your country"
I hope this is a better understanding for you on how the animation industry works. Again I am not expert on this field. I am just an anime fan like you, so if anyone thinks i am wrong then please do correct me.
Have a nice day

This series is made of WIN. I'm glad crunchy finally decided to unveil it to the rest of the users. This is one of my favorite series as well, and my only complaint is that it didn't follow the manga all the way to the end of their tournament run(if they did it would have made this series even more amazing).

Thanks Crunchy Staff
