I'll join but I cannot guarantee that I can describe how to do it properly as cooking is more freely where you can mix and match things you want and hope it turns out good

OK guys and Gals, DG and I have decided on the first recipe....It shall be a

CHICKEN POT PIE (like the one I recently posted in pix!)

Cook Time30 min
Level
Easy
Yield
6 to 8 servings

Ingredients
1-2 sheet frozen puff pastry depending on your cassarole size.
2 tablespoons butter
1 roasted chicken, shredded (i used 8 chicken theighs roasted them 350F for 40 mins, then cooled and shredded -no skin or bones!lol)
1/4 cup chopped red sweet pepper
2 medium shallots, thinly sliced (I minced a small onion)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried tarragon, crushed
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups milk
1 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup dry white wine
1 1/2 cups peas, blanched (this means boil till tender)
1 1/2 cups carrots, blanched (boil till tender)
2 potatoes, peeled, diced, and boiled (I boiled the diced potatos with the diced carrots for about 20 min I think..)
1 egg plus 1 tablespoon milk, for egg wash (an egg wash is to brush over pastry so it turns a nice golden brown)

Directions
Thaw puff pastry according to package directions. (I will find a recipe for puff pastry in case you cant find it frozen!) OR you can use like a pie crust but it wont be as fluffy and flakey!!

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. (218.3C)

Meanwhile, in a large skillet melt butter over medium-high heat. Add chicken, sweet pepper, and shallots and cook 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in flour, salt, tarragon, and black pepper. Add milk and cream all at once. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Stir in wine, peas, carrots and potatoes; heat thoroughly. Transfer the hot chicken mixture to a 2-quart casserole.(I used a large glass baking dish like 10x16 and 1 1/2 sheets of pastry on top rather than one) Place pastry over the hot chicken mixture in casserole dish. Brush puff pastry with egg wash then cut slits in the pastry to allow steam to escape. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes.

This recipe was provided by professional chefs and has been scaled down from a bulk recipe provided by a restaurant. The Food Network Kitchens chefs have not tested this recipe, in the proportions indicated, and therefore, we cannot make any representation as to the results.

How ever, I did test this recipe, it was really wonderful. I didnt have any measurements to go by, I got it off a tv show, but it looks like I was pretty close!!

Well, everyone have at it!! You have Till JUNE 1st to cook and post a pic of this recipe! If everyone finishes early, we will post the next recipe sooner!! On your marks get set GO!!!

6-8 servings!!!! It will give me a hard time to finish it all. I think I'll cut down the half recipe. It's only me who eats the dinner anyway.
