I would have both. One account for myself to save money, and another joint account for us to share.

Say "Ha! That means I have every right to stash away my own money!"

But I'd ask him why, to make sure nothing is up. If I deemed it okay then I'd leave him be.
And then stash away my own money~

i wouldn't really do anything. joint accounts have their pros and cons so having separate accounts shouldn't be the end of the world.

It seems like a good idea.My parents have seperate bank accounts(and theyre still together) and everything is good.
If I was married then I would seperate accounts. Becuz wat if my husband cheated on me and took all my money or spent it all on beer?Of course I would seperate accounts!

No, we'll share our finances and if he doesn't want to then he doesn't know me enuf, so it will hurt me.
There are women out there who do sometimes want only money, but I'm not like that and I'll be hurt if we got married and all and he hasn't realized that yet.
If I do have a separate money, this will purely for emergency reasons so that whatever happens like the current recession, we'll have money to spare.

Just get a prenuptial agreement. It's the safest thing to do.

Yeah, as long as my partner is aware of it's existence. The same goes to him; if he has a separate account, I should know of its existence.
I have a separate account, but he knows about it.

He could have his own account. I don't control what he wants. As long as he just tells me these things, it doesn't matter. Beside, I probably have one myself just for the safe side.

I don't really support joint bank accounts either... my mother and her boyfriend were talking about getting one >.> but I don't really trust him to be honest... well, I would never do it personally. It may sound selfish, but my money is mine and I don't want to take the chance of him taking out some dosh without asking me, cause I could see that easily happening.

if he wants it i guess he could....it doesnt really matter...less things to fight about

That's not a problem at all just as long as your not hiding it from your spouse. It's best not to have a joint account and each have individual accounts.
