Despite being just the demo I out of pure bordom decided to make a review on it because I thought it was that interesting. Plus wanted to make sure this game got a little exposure as well.

Katawa Shojo Review

Ever wanted to know what it was like interacting with a handicap girl, how about multiple handicap girls? Well if you just can't wait for the oppertunity to hit on a girl who's both cute and disabled, then this visual novel is for you. Once you play this game it may seem like a normal school based visual novel with disabled people but soon you'll be quick to realize that interacting with handicap people is a totally different story, in a good way that is ^_^. Even if you're specifically into handicap girls you'll still find captivating storylines and witness situations that would be considered rare in the real world.

You'll be surprised at the unique oppertunities you'll find being with any of the five (+1) girls that you'll encounter. Again, if you're not playing the game to hit on girls just because they're special you'll still find it fun to play anyways because of the vastly wide range of personalities, some of them being far from normal. From the game guide order the first girl is Emi. To sum her up she's the child-size, leg-amputated girl with a energetic and fun personality. Hanako is the permanently-burnt, trauma girl who's shy to the extreme that she avoids social contact with everyone with the exception of Lily. Lily is the caring and loving blind girl who fosters Hanako like a mother. Rin is the armless, avent-garde artist with a fairly abstract philosophy about life that reflects upon her artwork. Shizune is the deaf-mute with a leader-type personality who always knows how to manage her situation, which can involve manipulation. Misha, well, we don't know if she has a disability or not except for maybe being loud at inappropriate times but despite that she is Shizune's interpreter/friend and they're both on the student council.

One thing to note about this particular game is that unlike most popular visual novel titles it doesn't seem to have any particular "star" girl(s); it seems to producers don't give a hint of a main herione much like the producers of "Shuffle". That being so there is no pressured bias into choosing one girl over the other, it's not like it's imperative that you should choose between Kotonoha or Sekai over the other available girls like in "School Days". The player can do whatever they wish without feeling guilty, with the exception of bad choices that lead to bad ends.

You also won't find ridiculous eroge situations in this game so don't expect to get a boner from this game. As far the "love" aspect of dating sims is concerned, this game leans more towards intimacy rather than erotic situations. Besides this is only a demo of the game so that last statement might be completely wrong as soon as they create the entire game.

I'm not sure if anyone else knows of the general trend of eroge/visual novel games (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck_rY5qGygc&feature=related) but I just want to say that this game doesn't seem to follow any of the particular trends except for making choices and a child size girl.

Now for my personal opinion, I enjoyed this game. It gave me some laughs, I didn't really cry, but every once in a while I was like "wtf mate" but not in a way that made me think of that part of the game as a disgrace. Anyways go play the game, there's only so much I can put in this review before spoiling too much.
